Can anyone explain pregnancy dating to me?

I’m so very confused by everything I’ve read online!
My last period started 24.01.24 - I have irregular cycles (between 26-40 days). Ovulation must have happened around about 11.2.24 - it’s the only time we DTD. I got a strong positive test on 25.2.24. NHS due date calculator says 30.10.24 based on a 28 day cycle but I don’t have that. My Flo app has me at 5+5 today. I only ask as I have 0 symptoms and I’m wondering if it’s because I somehow am not as far along as I think?!

Dating is typically based on your LMP being 2 weeks (14 days) from ovulation. So if you are sure that you ovulated on 11th Feb then you start counting from 28th Jan.

I didn’t get symptoms with any 3 of mine at all during my pregnancies. 2nd one my boobs basically double before my missed period and that was about it. So it is possible you won’t get any at all or the might come st a later stage

Have you taken a clear blue how many weeks test? If you're 5 weeks today you should get a 3+ on the test within the next couple of days.

Last did that on Tuesday, it said 1-2 weeks!

They work it out from first day of your last pores to make sure you have your first scan in the first 12 weeks once you have a scan u will have a proper date x

Hi @TinkRose, i am in same situation. They will most likely book appointments based on how many weeks since your last period but you can assume that you will measure "behind" and they will adjust your due date after ~12 weeks.

I'm sure they'll sort it out at the scan, don't fret, and congratulations.

if you use an online calculator like this, you have an option to go on last period, ovulation, IVF transfer or ultrasound date: https://www.calculator.net/due-date-calculator.html

But 'based on a 30 day cycle' will only put you out by a few days at most, all it's doing is assuming you would ovulate around day 15 and your period is late by day 31, as opposed to day 26 for some women or day 35 for others.

As a PP said, the 12 week scan will be what is used to officially date your pregnancy so once you have that none of this will matter anyway.
