Sick of being sick

I feel so pathetic but I didnt have any sickness the first time around.
I also don’t really get sick generally.
Now I’m just feeling so down because I’m not used to it and can’t deal with it 😂 I don’t even have it as bad as some people!

Having said that, when I wasn’t sick I was worried something had happened so I just can’t win right now 😂 only 9 weeks!

Hey, I know how you feel.
my first I had zero symptoms.
I’m now constantly nauseous and throw up if I get hungry.
try not to get hungry -
makes it worse. Keeps snacks near the bed for first thing in the morning - I had some rice cakes which kept the sick away (if I brushed my teeth on an empty stomach I’d vomit!)
ice lollies are Now my new friend hehe.
I’m 12 weeks now and it’s only eased slightly.

I’m in same boat tbh I’m not a good poorly person and wasn’t sick with my first 3 but this time iv been off work for 4 weeks now and ever now and then have a few days where I don’t feel sick but I’m exhausted all the time got my dating can next week and back at work on Tuesday and am dreading it

Sympathies. I was so sick with my 2nd - I remember getting off the train and walking to work, throwing up in some shrubs on the way and thinking, 'this can't be right!'

Meanwhile I had MiL banging on with her well-meaning advice which seemed to involve crystallised ginger (can't stand it at the best of times) and cutting off the circulation in my hands with sea-bands, bless her.

And then, all the sickness stopped ... you'll get there Flowers

So much sympathy. I was epically sick with both of my DC. No, ginger biscuits didn't fix it, no, I wasn't imagining it (I lost half a stone) it's just so rubbish. I was very grateful to be pregnant but I didn't enjoy it and I certainly never bloomed!

They were both soooo worth it though I know it's not much comfort right at the minute

Lillers · 02/03/2024 11:54

I have no advice, only sympathy - I’m in the exact same boat (10+2).

In week 9 I was being sick about twice a day, feeling really rotten. Now I’m in week 10 I’ve only been sick a couple of times, and not really bringing much up each time, so I do think it’s easing, but I still feel rotten. Everything smells horrible. I have a horrible rotten sensation in my throat all the time. If I’m not being sick I’m thinking I might be. It’s exhausting.

If one more person tells me to eat ginger biscuits I’m going to ram them down their throat - they only work a tiny bit, they’re not a magical miracle cure!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 02/03/2024 11:55

Eat little and often. I found things like bread crackers plain biscuits helped. Travel bands the acupressure ones also helped and gingin sweets

GiantRoadPuzzle · 02/03/2024 11:58

Exactly the same, and only 5 weeks pregnant currently.

So fed up of the constant nausea, dizziness, sickness and dry retching.

Latenightanxiety · 02/03/2024 11:58

Thanks so much all! This was a proper whingey post but I was so low and then kicking myself that I didn’t appreciate when I felt better! Your kind words and story sharing have made me feel better x

I sympathise I had sickness from week 5 to birth with both my pregnancies. I tried telling myself this was a positive sign of a healthy pregnancy (it didn't always work). So many well meaning people with how they cured there's (nothing did).
In hindsight id have demanded antisickness medication but this was 20 odd years ago and the gp was reluctant. I'd have also gone off sick instead of pushing myself and telling myself I'm not ill just pregnant (when actually some women are affected more than others with pregnancy). Look after yourself and seek support when needed. Remember this is not forever and is worth it.

Mauhea · 02/03/2024 12:19

Oh mate, completely with you and I'm 'good' at being sick. I'd rather just get it over and done with. But up to about 13 weeks I was miserable despite only really being sick twice a day every other day. I was a big fan of Cyclizine and polos to get me through work. Ginger did nothing for me at any point. Now at 15 weeks it seems to have cleared up apart from the odd wave of iffyness. Fingers crossed it won't last much longer for you!

Battenbergsquare · 02/03/2024 12:38

Clearly have found my people. Can’t set foot in the kitchen as it sets me off. More 24/7 sickness than just morning sickness! So grateful to be pregnant after a long six years but heck
