I was in the car and without thinking put on the seat warmer / heater
and now I’m super worried I’ve hurt baby? I’m only 5 weeks but I hear a lot about not using heat pads etc and hot baths so I’m just worried :( xx

You won’t have harmed your baby OP. Saunas and hot baths, sustained heat that causes you to be sweaty are to be avoided.

Potatomashed · 01/03/2024 19:13

If you were a comfortable temperature OP, your little one will be fine. As PP said, sustained heat which raises the body temp is a slight concern but this is certainly not that.

Bells3032 · 01/03/2024 19:13

The reason you're not meant to use things like saunas is it can lower your blood pressure and make you feel faint. And if you faint that's obv dangerous for a baby. Keeping warm is not bad for the baby. Baby will be fine. Think about it babies are born in countries where is 40 degrees all the time.

Unless the heat pad was directly on your stomach there is zero chance of harming it. And even if it was the chances are next to zero.

Its more an issue of you over heating and fainting thats the concern. Honestly, baby will be fine, so try not to worry.

itll be fine, I used the seat warmer I the car all the way through pregnancy and there was no issues. They don’t get that hot.

AimeeLou84 · 01/03/2024 20:30

I have hot baths and when cramping use my heated mattress protector. I’ve been told it’s only when your body overheats it could be an issue

Tianrose · 01/03/2024 20:52

Don’t worry, the risk is with your core body temperature being heated, so e.g. 20 minutes plus in a very hot bath, if you don’t think it would if have the effect of giving you a fever then nothing to worry about

Aquamarine1029 · 01/03/2024 20:56

Think about it logically. If seat warmers were that dangerous to unborn babies, they would not be allowed to be installed in cars. Your baby is fine.
