28 weeks with my second bub but just found out he's breech. I'm beyond annoyed and terrified he won't turn. Any tricks? Didn't have this with my first who was heads down very early.

What breech position is he in?

About a 25-30% of babies are breech at 28 weeks which scales down to 3-4% at 36 weeks from memory.

Hey! Try not to worry. I found out baby was breech at 32 weeks and panick really did set in with me. But I went for a scan last week at 36 weeks and baby was head down. I had no idea baby had turned and was head down. I didn't do anything in particular I've just been keep active as best I can. They aren't usually concerned about breech until you reach 36, 37 weeks. You still have plenty of time. There are also things the hospital can do to try turn naby.

I think his feet are down as I feel kicks low down head up. I'm hanging upside down like a bat every night.

It’s pretty common at that stage, baby will spin round several times before 36 weeks which is when it gets harder for them to move.

Dyra · 26/02/2024 11:45

I wouldn't worry at all. My first was any way except cephalic until 36 weeks. My second was breech right the way up to nearly 37 weeks, then turned by himself.

MrsSamR · 26/02/2024 13:25

Offering another angle as my breech baby didn't turn and was still breech at 36 weeks so I booked in for an ELCS and it was totally fine. I did everything I could to turn her e.g. spinning babies but she was having none of it! The midwife who scanned me told me that the vast majority of babies turn by 36 weeks but mine was one of the stubborn ones!

It's very common for babies to be breech at 28 weeks. Nothing to worry about at all :)

My breech baby didn't turn until 34 weeks. It is very common to be breech at 28 weeks. Try not to stress about it at this stage.

Honestly if your baby still doesn’t turn nearer the time then open yourself up to the idea of how to prepare for a c section and the best recovery advice. My second baby was breech from early on, and ended up transverse and very stuck.

My ds was breech until quite late on and then he turned one night while I was in bed and jeez was it the weirdest feeling ever,!

Did you have a vaginal birth with your first ?

My son was breech until 37 weeks (the night before a scan to confirm position and book in for section) and like pp it was a verrry odd sensation and my bump had completely changed shape by the morning!

I tried everything apart from an ECV - accupuncture/moxibustion/spinning babies etc. even spent 4 hours weeding my mums patio! No idea if any of that helped though, but made me feel I was doing something.

As others have said, 28 weeks is still very early in the breech scheme of things, but maybe your floor needs a good scrub ;)

At my 28w scan, they told me this current baby is breech. I got the pregnancy ball out and started bouncing on it every night. By my 32w midwife appt, she was convinced baby was now head down and i also think the kicks have changed position so i think i would agree. Waiting for confirmation at 36w scan, but in the meantime, i had my birth options appointment and read up on c section information just in case (first baby was a vaginal birth).

ChangeAgain2 · 26/02/2024 21:38

Both of my babies were breech..it was discovered after my first that I have uterine abnormalities. They absolutely had no chance of turning themselves. I did a lot off bouncing on balls and crawling on all fours hoping for baby to move to no avail.

No, I had an EMCS following failed induction at 42 weeks. My first baby was ‘query breech’ quite late onbut he was confirmed to be head down at a 36 week presentation scan.

A lady in my antenatal class had an undiagnosed breech when she went into labour.

Stats are on your side, but it’s still possible so just remain open to the idea :)
