Hi , just wondering if anyone's ever had to have a cervical stitch / cervical cerclage before , I have mine removed in a couple of days. did it hurt ? And how long after did you go into labour , I will be 36+6 when it's removed. Flowers

I don't remember it hurting when it was removed, it was very quick, literally just snipped the stitch! Then just had to wait around being monitored to make sure nothing was happening. I think I was 36+6 too when mine was removed, my waters went at 37+6 and DS was born 38+0. Good luck!

It is no big deal, since it has done its purpose. When your body reacts is unknown.

Did you have to stay in over night to be monitored when it was taken out ? When I had it put it I was made to stay overnight 😩

No, but I think it probably depends when they get round to it! I think I narrowly missed having to stay in overnight with mine being put in, was discharged about 10pm! I went in quite early & had to wait for quite a few hours as the consultant was dealing with the more urgent people on their list, then it was done quickly & I was monitored for a few hours (I think!), then sent home once they were satisfied it hadn't done anything to start labour/baby was still OK etc.

It basically is a stitch to keep your cervix closed to prevent pre term labour , I had to have this because my cervix was measuring shorter than what it should of been.
