Shared parental leave - can I put a block before contract end date?

Hi,

looking for some advice around my SPL. I am on a 1 year fixed term contract post in the NHS (OT) and currently on ML. I am currently taking SPL with the plan to go back at 6 months and then my partner was originally planning to take 4 months (previously took 2 months when baby was first born). My contract is due to end in September and I am going back in May. I understand that you can take SPL in blocks - would I be able to take a month off my current block (go back at 5 months) and then start a 1 month block at the end of August (so I was essentially paid SMP for a 1 month) after my contract ends?
