Preeclampsia/Stomach Bug

Hi all, grateful for some insight. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am 36+3. Woke up this morning with diarrhoea after a really unsettled night with a lot of indigestion (which I always get in pregnancy). I had an appointment this morning so went along and they have found 2+ of protein and blood in my urine. I have a sore head and my feet have been a little swollen but nothing too dramatic. Midwife was going to send me on to have a medical review but I explained that my kids have had a vomiting and diarrhoea bug in the last week and kind of hard to know if the symptoms are due to it or preeclampsia so she allowed me to go home with an appointment booked to check in with her again tomorrow and instructions to go to EOU if anything goes else crops up. My blood pressure was up a little too, not lots but above my norm. I've been in bed most of the day and have taken paracetamol which seems to have helped the headache although ita not gone completely. My hands feel stiff but not swollen and I am all sweaty and generally just do not feel well at all. Anyone have any guidance as to whether this sounds more like a tummy bug or preeclampsia?

It could be both. If your children had a stomach bug then you might have it just now. I’ve had it in my current pregnancy and felt awful with it.
Id keep an eye on how you’re feeling tonight and contact your local maternity triage is you begin to feel worse.

I think I’d just go.

Can you ring triage and explain and they can isolate you somewhere maybe?

I had pre eclampsia and then an emergency c section, so I wouldn’t wait.

I had no headache, only slight swelling, but my BP was through the roof. For 2 weeks before that I had slightly high BP.
