41 weeks and exhausted with stop start Labour signs

After weeks of Braxton hicks and not knowing if Labour was near, Yesterday I had bloody show, lost my mucus plug and had contractions every 3/4 mins consistently for hours. Called triage and they said everything is progressing well and to continue at home and call back when contractions become more intense or are every 2 mins. Had the worse night sleep with cramping and contractions till 4am and then finally managed to get some sleep (while sitting up due to nausea).

Today it feels like I’ve gone a few steps back, contractions are still going but less intense and irregular with some 3 mins apart and some 5/6 mins apart and no more blood or signs of waters breaking. I also feel like baby’s head might be in a weird position because my pelvis really hurts, especially on my left side.

I’m just really exhausted at this point and would do anything for some sleep or sign that things are actually progressing rather than stop starting. I feel like I’ve been moaning for weeks too because my body doesn’t know what’s happening (FTM).

Midwife suggested induction next week and I’m doing all I can to try and not think about it because it’s the last thing I want. Haven’t had a sweep too and would like it to happen naturally.

Exactly 41 weeks today 🥺

Is anyone else overdue and exhausted and please can you tell me what you’re doing to try and get through it?

Hi there, I'm 41 weeks tomorrow and feel your pain except I've had absolutely no signs whatsoever! Had a sweep on Monday but the midwife said my cervix was still closed.

I'm due to be induced on Monday and still toying with the idea of going straight for a section I don't know.

I honestly didn't expect to go this late but I'm blaming my husband as he was 2 weeks late!

It's just so frustrating having to wait

I have to go to hospital on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to be monitored as I'll be past 41 weeks then but I'm going to ask for another sweep on Friday and find out if there's been any progress.

Sounds like labour is getting started for you! The latent phase is hugely frustrating but I’d say all of your signs are really positive. Try and do something fun and distracting to get your endorphins up :)

Thank you for your responses, glad I'm
not alone. Midwife called again this morning and said it’s normal for someone women to have long and stop start early labour… wasn’t reassuring to hear. She’s booked me in for Monday to discuss induction because I’ll be 41+5 weeks and said if I say no to an induction they’ll need to make a care plan to monitor baby and me. Just really praying baby is here before Monday now 🙏🏿

@Ebonythoughts how you getting on? Has baby arrived? Thinking of you

Ebonythoughts · 19/02/2024 01:48

Yes she arrived on Friday 16th at 11.30pm via c-section after my waters broken with meconium and then 10 hours of unsuccessful induction. Not the experience I wanted or hoped for but grateful we are all safe and well.
