Really worried 12+3, really itchy skin, liver function came back high

Admitted to hospital for IV and anti sickness , blood tests show high liver function, should be 30 but it’s 110. Has anyone had this before? Told to go for repeat bloods in a weeks time and go from there if any further tests are needed.

Hi, I had similar but was further on. When my liver enzymes came back high, they made an appointment for me to be monitored and have repeat bloods the next day. Everything came back fine but I had repeat bloods 4 days and 7 days later to be sure. Did you mention the itchy skin to your midwife?

What was 30 - Bile salts?
The normal level in healthy people is 14/15.

110 Bile salts is dangerous. But at 12 weeks is very early.
Do you have any liver issues in the family? Gilberts? Liver disease? Hep c? Gallstones? Etc etc.

Have they done ultrasound of the liver?

I had ICP but at 37w+3d and my levels never went above 50. I had itching on and off. I had a natural labour delievery.

The new ICP guidance for the Royal College states levels of 100 of above for Bile salts is dangerous and significant for outcome.

Repeat vloods must be NON fasting to get the real numbers. Same time when they do it. The new Royal College of Obstricians states close monitoring and advising using Urso for itching. Induction recommended between 35-37 weeks if levels remain high.
