Maternity Assessment Unit not answering call

Cosycup · 07/02/2024 19:46

I’m currently 16 weeks + 5 days and have a high temperature (fluctuating between 38.12 and 38.5). I have a very sore throat and lower back pain. I also have had no appetite today (unlike me).

I’ve taken paracetamol every 4 hours (the last being 45 mins ago).

Advice I’ve read online is to phone the maternity assessment unit however they are not answering their phone (been waiting 20 mins). Should I keep holding on or will I be ok to leave it until tomorrow and see how I feel?

Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated

Call 111

Autumn1990 · 07/02/2024 19:47

I agree call 111

AimeeLou84 · 07/02/2024 19:47

Yeah I agree call 111 as they’ll have some sort of midwife available to call or advise

Thanks all, calling them from my work phone and hanging on ringing the maternity assessment unit on my own phone.

111’s recorded message is a 90 min wait to speak to an advisor so who knows who will answer first!

You need a medical review ie 111 or GP. It's not a pregnancy related issue

Thanks guys. Eventually got through to maternity and they said contact 111. I was just worried in case it would affect the baby, but now understand if it’s a virus etc I need to speak to 111
