Faint positive 6weeks

We've been casually trying for a while, almost a year, but didn't really think it would happen as we both a bit older (me mid 30s him mid 40s), I did a test last week and it was negative, repeated and no result (cheap coop tests); ordered one online and got an almost instant faint positive so I'm hoping it is (at least I think I hope it is), my period is very late and I'm usually like clockwork (although last month was 5 days late). I did have a little bleed 2 days ago and used a tampon but it stopped almost straight away and barely anything on tampon. When I wipe there is a very pale pink tinge; is all this normal? I've not told my partner yet as we've had a few hopefuls and he's been gutted when it wasn't. Any advice?

Not an expert here, but, could it be an implantation bleed? My understanding is that pregnancy tests are very unlikely to give false positives although chemical pregnancies are sadly quite common.

Sounds unlikely that you're 6 weeks along if the test is only faintly positive though? Maybe you ovulated later than usual? If you test again first thing tomorrow morning it might be clearer.

Thank you! Was just going from date of last period; did do the test later in the day and had drunk lots of water / been to the loo a lot. Will try in morning. X
