Hi there
just found out today that I’m pregnant with my third child.
i only had a c section 4 months ago and I’m still feeling swollen and slightly sore
i had my first c section in 2021 and recovered so much quicker.

this pregnancy is a complete surprise and unplanned and I’m so worried that it’s not safe for either me or the baby.

has anyone been in this situation and able to give advice or let me know if the process is different this time round, as in will I be monitored more or booked in for a section earlier?

thanks

Firstly congratulations and Don't panic - they will prob monitor you more closely and likely give you the steroid injections for babies lungs in your last trimester incase they do need to deliver urgently due to potential scar rupture.

When a family member fell pregnant very quickly after a Csection they had to cut vertically instead of through the previous scar - but this was also their 4th csection so there were other risks already. They were very strongly advised not to get pregnant again as the uterus was very thin.

However, I've known others with 4 c sections who have been fine and had the same incision. I have had 3 in the same incision- but with bigger gaps than yours between 2&3.

Hi there,
in a similar situation, expecting my fourth (surprise) 10 months after my 3rd. All sections so if this goes well then I’ll have 4 sections. I have 13 months between Dc1 and 2 so fell pregnant with DC2 when DC1 was 4 months old. It was all fine. They will monitor you closely but generally if you’re fit and healthy the risk is slightly raised but my consultant wasn’t too concerned.
congratulations. X

Sorry forgot to add that this time I called my assessment unit and explained my worries re having a 4th section only 18 months after 3rd and I’ve been given a consultant appointment next week where they will scan me and check my scar etc to help determine the risks. They were very understanding and I got the impression that if there’s a big risk then they would want to know too so they can help plan my care best.
