Booking appointment at 13 weeks + 3 days but no scan date?

This my first pregnancy and so have nothing to compare to. I am 11 weeks 6 days today and have finally received a letter to say my booking appointment will be at 13 weeks + 3 days🎉

I assume this is okay albeit being slightly on the later side. My main concern is whether i will have the first scan and screening tests on time (before 14 weeks) 🧬🩻 as this has not been booked in yet. I imagine this will get booked in at the booking appointment, but am worried about whether there will be availability in such a short space of time. Anyone else been in this situation or have any advice on what to do??

I did contact the midwifes when i reached 11 weeks as i hadn’t heard from them about the first appointment and was worried they didn’t receive my referral (which i sent at 6 weeks). They replied quickly saying there wasn't anything i could do as they are extremely busy.. I don't really want to bother them again about the scan unless its urgent ‼️

I would have a word with your GP in the first instance and see if they can intervene in any way. Your booking appointment seems very late and you are right about the scan. This needs to be done before 14 weeks so I would politely press, hope all goes well

I was late having my first scan, was 13 weeks 2 days (know this was accurate as pregnancy was IVF). The baby measured 3 days ahead so put me at 13 weeks 5 days, due to this I was on the deadline to carry out the relevant tests needed (I was told it’s 13 weeks, 6 days). Unfortunately due to the baby not being in the correct position they couldn’t get the measurements and were unable to rebook me in for the following day so I left the hospital distraught and cried all the way home not having the tests carried out.
This completely ruined what should have been an amazing day, please call the hospital and midwife and demand an earlier appointment.

I’d contact them again if you want the screening, there’s a deadline on it so it’s important. I booked in late in my last pregnancy but I contacted to enquire about wether I could still have the screening scan and they managed to fit me in.

Yes I would call the midwives again and specifically ask them to refer you for the scan, it is important it’s done before 14 weeks if you do want the screening.

Contact the midwives again and if no joy it is possible to 'self refer' to a hospital - I nearly did this when I had trouble getting hold of anyone at all. If you know which hospital you would be attending you can ring them and speak to someone there and just explain the situation.

I would contact them again also and push them to reschedule the scan earlier. I had my booking at 13 weeks and the scan was booked at 15 weeks (they didn’t change the appointment time at the booking appointment) which was too late to get the measurements for the screening and they end up doing a quad combined test instead (which is less accurate I think).

Luckily we had a private scan at 12 weeks already scheduled as we did NIPT. But otherwise I would be so worried.

Thanks everyone for your advice, i thought i was being extra! I emailed the midwives this morning to specifically ask about the scan and they said has already been requested but they would chase it up. Just recieved a call on the same day from the ultrasound department to offer me an scan in 2 days time 🥹🎉

That’s great news OP, I wish I had pushed harder back then to get it earlier as they didn't process my referral for a month until I complained to PALS!!
