Hi all, was just wondering when did you tell your employer were pregnant?

in both pregnancies I mentioned it when I knew I was too sick to be doing my job particularly well 😂 first time round that was 5 weeks, second time 8.

4 weeks due to being nhs nurse and needing restrictive duties

I told my manager at about 10 weeks but in a woman to woman, off the record sort of way. Have just told the rest of the team at 13 weeks (having had my “12 week” scan yesterday). I think sooner rather than later is better if you can just tell your manager or a small circle - means people are more forgiving if you’re having an off day (or, off month in my case)!!

I told my employer at 22 weeks.
I was able to grin and bear it before then, and do my job as normal and I wasnt showing.
That was just after my 20 week anatomy scan.

5 weeks the first time, purely because she guessed 😂 and this time I told her at 8 weeks. I work with challenging families so I have to let them know fairly early for risk assessments etc

wishuponastar1988 · 06/02/2024 20:17

I was quite early. About 8 weeks I think as they needed to do a risk assessment and there were parts of my job I was no longer safe to do (visiting homes where violent people may be etc). It was confidential though between myself and a senior manager until I told the rest of the team when I was around 16 weeks

First baby - 12 weeks, lost him at 17 weeks.

Second baby - 18 weeks (when I was starting to show).

Easy for me as I never had morning sickness.

16 weeks which was after the Xmas break, didn't see the point in saying anything before. I believe you legally have to tell an employer before 25 weeks. I'm showing now at 20 weeks so wouldn't have got away with that if I had wanted to!

Mum2jenny · 06/02/2024 21:23

Around 20 weeks

TTCbaby2023 · 07/02/2024 08:54

I left it as late as I could and informed them after my 20 week scan.

JDJT · 07/02/2024 09:00

As soon as I got a positive test. I work with chemicals so I had no choice. I'd have been risking the pregnancy/baby if I kept it quiet.

First baby - 12 weeks; second baby - 20 weeks (after scan). No morning sickness although absolutely shattered with first pregnancy- no one noticed! 😂
