As the title says. Yaaay im pregnant!

Irregular cycles, prenatal vitamins and one poorly OH later and ive finally fallen pregnant after my 2 mc's

Now heres my issue, i know i need to get a midwife appointment, however coincidentally the day after my midwife appointment ive started bleeding and shortly miscarried, so im scared to go as its starting to feel like shes a bad omen!😂

But is there anything i can have or do that will cut down my chances of a miscarriage?

Do i try to request progesterone? Do i buy baby asprin if i can get it anywhere?

Baby number 3 and im actually shitting myself!🌈

Spreading some rainbow baby dust to everyone who has had to go through the same and is ttc!x

My midwife appointment wasnt until 10 weeks, i waited till 8 weeks due to the same worry. I booked a private scan before calling them, i kinda figured if there was a heartbeat then i would, i didn't want to get my hopes up. I'm on asprin but they wouldn't prescribe it till 12 weeks.

Due to my worry and fears i have had a lot more appointments with midwife for reassurance which is very good of them.

Wishing you the best

You can buy low dose aspirin over the counter. Progesterone hasn’t really been proven, it works for some not others and the science is a bit vague. Early miscarriages could be a sign of chromosomal abnormalities so progesterone and aspirin won’t be of benefit. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot you can do! I’m speaking as someone who has had 4 miscarriages, so I know the heartache! I hope this one works out for you!

Yes same, mine was always the 5th week :( i was so anxious the whole 12 weeks, I'm now 23 weeks but still anxious 😭😂

But other then what you are doing, there is nothing you can do. I had all the investigations but they could find no ryhme or reason, so said it was a matter of keep trying and getting that good egg 😅 can you get a private scan? Unfortunately for me miscarriages/chemicals have just overshadowed the pregnancy as i just can't relax or enjoy it.

@Pickles2023 i wouldnt mind but my teeth broke during my first 2 pregnancies and thats all i got out of them!

No baby, just broken teeth and no way of getting into a dentist without paying over the odds!

Fingers crossed for a good pregnancy, i know i can go to meet my miracle, which i did the first time and she said i was around 5 weeks and had like gas bubbles around my uterus? Im not too sure what that means.
Im so glad your pregnancy is working out! X

I had a MC last year and began taking baby aspirin after that. We conceived two months after. I have continued taking aspirin anyway as I am risk for pre eclampsia.
I can't say for certain the aspirin helped things but we're now 24 weeks. I'd take it again.
Wishing you the best.

LER2023 · 06/02/2024 07:23

@brussels3108 thank you so much, im aware that the doctors probably wont prescribe anything for me as its not 3 miscarriages🫠
But according to tommys, it should be after 2 when i get seen to, some people have been seen after 2 by nhs.
When i had my second miscarriage i got really angry with the poor nurse, im sure shes used to it but looking back i feel awful. I told her i want to be looked at, i cant go through it again, it will push me over the edge and that it isnt fair.
She just replied saying i understand how you feel however you'd have to go private if i wanted to be checked.

As this is my 3rd baby, hoping to not miscarry, im out of my old job that literally made me stressed and possibly made me miscarry and finally in a job where its just simple, no stress at all, i have a lot of hope right now.
I thought id post on here to see other peoples experiences on getting progesterone and possible baby asprin and see if it worked for people, a poster had said its not scientifically proven to work for everyone and ive seen that hospitals only give progesterone when your bleeding. For me that seems very late!

Thank you for your comment and best of luck in your continued pregnancy! X

I agree about the progesterone - even after 1 MC I couldn't believe they had this rule that you had to go through 3 just to get investigated.
I was never prescribed baby aspirin - just bought regular aspirin and halved it so it was 75mg. When I told my midwife (at 10 weeks booking appt) she said there is nothing to 'medically prescribe it for' but didn't warn me against it or anything like that. So I thought no harm in taking it. I hope you find some answers

@LER2023 NICE guidance is that you can be prescribed progesterone if you have bleeding in early pregnancy and have had one previous miscarriage - so if you have any bleeding or spotting you could approach your GP about how to get it. It's not advised if you don't have any bleeding though, and obviously it can't prevent all miscarriages.

Also, does your hospital have an Early Pregnancy Unit or similar (at mine it's an Emergency Gynaecology Unit)? If it does, call them and see if they take self-referrals for women who have had previous miscarriages - you may be able to get an early scan.
