I had a urine infection at 14 weeks and the symptom's your describing are similar. Definitely mention it and have your urine dipped, if you do have an infection they worsen pretty quick with pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon!

with my gp tho it might take a few days to get results theyre useless, im worried now :(
I have had problems contacting my midwife as my gp receptionists wouldn't let me speak to her to ask something last week before even asking what the issue was
the email they gave me on my notes doesn't go through neither does the non urgent number they never called back
there is an urgent one or I can call the birth centre right now and ask but I dont know im so worried

I would go to your local maternity unit 24 Assement unit . The sooner you get antibiotics the better and a serious uti can cause pre term labour. Please don't stress but I would go to be in the safe side.

Sorry OP, I didn’t want to worry you. I felt so unwell with my UTI, it’s definitely give your maternity unit a ring. You’re over 20 weeks now so maybe some advice from your local midwifery unit? I’d pop a sample in first thing and ask the gp to dip it whilst your on the phone incase you need antibiotics. I went from non stop peeing to a raging temperature in 48 hours. Better to be safe, pregnancy is already rough without added complications. Sorry I worried you!

I just rang my triage they said, since I can wee and not in pain just call doctor in morning to get urine test, and period pains are normal as not really bad so she wasn't concerned !

Go and get a test ASAP. I had a UTI a few weeks ago and didn't even know - no symptoms! My midwife said I needed urgent antibiotics.

Go walk in centre if you can. If it’s a uti the symptoms will ramp up pretty quick which isn’t what you need at the best of times nevermind when pregnant.

I wasnt notified about an infection until 3 months later & it’s caused a lot of problems this pregnancy so please do not wait it out

Shortbreadfingerss · 06/02/2024 12:12

That’s really poor from your GP when I had a UTI and said I was pregnant they gave me the antibiotics upfront and waited for the test later as they said untreated it could cause problems. I would go to a walk-in centre.

the maternity triage also said just go to gp and get it tested so I dont know I feel fine today now anyway I think the baby was just laying on bladder

I think if I had. pain when urinating and couldn't wee at all ( have a strong stream as well) they'd be more concerned and I will 100% ring the triage again if its worse or not gone
I can also check results myself on the app Its usually fast aka will get results tomorrow

I'm 23 weeks and have a UTI. I'm very prone to them, at one point I had 10 in about an 8 month period after a bout of Covid. I've also had two kidney infections.

With this UTI I did an anima request with my GP surgery on Friday afternoon. They prescribed amoxicillin about 10 min later. Today the urine sample results have shown I need a different antibiotic which has been prescribed.

I say this to show that your surgery should be taking this seriously and that they don't have to wait until the test results to start you on an antibiotic.

Hopefully it's not a UTI that you have but if it is a UTI then there's a risk of it spreading to your kidneys and trust me, kidney infections are awful. With my first kidney infection I didn't notice UTI symptoms - it spread so quick that I only realised I was unwell when I started vomiting non stop.

ejndwejnfk · 06/02/2024 15:18

I have had many myself but what more can I do if they wont give me antibiotics till testing
and I speak to midwfie as well she wasn't concerned as I dont have many symptoms not in pain etc
