Early pregnancy/loss confusion

Hi everyone not sure if anyone can help/advise.

I should be 7 weeks pregnant according to dates (I am meticulous when recording them). So far I’ve had no pregnancy symptoms, this would be baby 3 for me so I know how I usually feel when pregnant. I’ve had horrible lower abdomen cramping that is there for a while no matter what I do and a tiny bit of spotting.

i was seen at EPAS who on Tuesday could only see an abnormal shaped sac on transvaginal scan nothing else so I was sent for HCG bloods. More HCG bloods done on Thursday to see if they were doubling however they were not only risen slightly so they confirmed on Thursday I was having a miscarriage. THEN I went for a scan before medical assessment yesterday and midwife has said she found a faint heartbeat (again transvaginal, absolutely nothing could be seen on abdomen scan) but baby is only measuring 1.4mm at 7 weeks. I’ve been told to come back in two weeks for another scan.

i am so confused about all of this and don’t know where to turn. My cramping is getting worse but am I pregnant or miscarrying im so lost and confused.

sorry for the long post but has anyone ever expressed anything like this? Thank you!

Sorry OP I have no advice. I can't imagine how worrying it is for you and the waiting must be causing extreme worry. Hopefully someone will be along to give you some advice.

Hi OP

So sorry you're going through this.

It sounds like technically you're both. There is a pregnancy, but it's smaller than would be expected and you say abnormally shaped. You're on the border of when a heartbeat would be expected too, so if there wasn't one they would have (did) say you were having a miscarriage, however, because one was then found they have to give it a couple of weeks to hopefully develop.

Unfortunately though, and I know this is isn't what you might want to hear, it's possible that in two weeks you may find there is no longer a heartbeat or further development.

This happened to us a couple of times 😢

Thank you so much for your reply, it’s just the most horrible time. I do feel like I’m myself things aren’t going to have a positive result but just hope I can get through the next two weeks. Thank you, im so sorry to hear you’ve had similar experiences ❤️
