Pregnancy after loss - 10 weeks

Whiterose123 · 03/02/2024 19:46

I have had 2 mmc in the last year and I'm pregnant again (10 weeks + 5).

I had an early scan at 7 weeks and everything was in the right place and measuring correctly, but I've been too nervous to go for a second scan.

Symptoms wise, I've had nausea, sore boobs, bloating and fatigue, but the last two days it seems to be lessening. I've also had lower back ache and cramping the last few days which I know can be normal but is a worry.

I'm dreading my 12 week scan, to be told there is no heartbeat again.

Is anyone in a similar situation?

@Whiterose123 congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a bit behind you, 8w tomorrow, and had a miscarriage in June last year. I know the anxiety that is pregnancy after loss. I wanted you to know you aren't alone but I can't offer much advice, except that all we can do is trust our bodies and remind ourselves we are pregnant unless otherwise confirmed. My symptoms have disappeared for a day or so then returned, which I believe is normal. Cramping is so difficult as I know the worry, but I try and think of it as "growing" pains. Sending a hug and best wishes xx

Whiterose123 · 05/02/2024 16:21

Thanks for replying and congrats on your pregnancy.

So sorry to hear about your loss last year.

You're 100% right, we just have to trust our bodies and I know I would give that advice to anyone else, it's just sometimes hard to listen to your own advice.

My scan is next week, fingers crossed for everything is ok and that this one sticks for both is us!

I've just found out I am pregnant again after 3 losses in under 6 months.
One chemical and 2 losses at 6ish weeks.
It's so difficult now to get excited as I'm so anxious, so I feel what you're going through.
I have been offered a scan at 6 weeks through the NHS so I hope that might put my mind at ease.
Hope you both get on ok

Keep us posted, @Whiterose123 and here for any ranting you need to do!

@JC084 congratulations to you! Xx

@Whiterose123 congratulations on your new pregnancy! 🥰

I know the Scanxiety all too well. I had 3 losses last year: a MMC in April at 11+4 (had stooped developing at 7+5), a CP and a MC at 7wks end of October which was confirmed at a scan on my original MMC due date 😔

Pregnancy after loss is so nerve-wracking but as a message of hope for you, I'm 13wks today and had a healthy 12wk scan last Friday. I had 4 early scans at the hospital due to my previous losses and was convinced every time that it would be bad news - particularly as I had some spotting before two of them. But this little bean has been determined to stick around so far.

I think all we can do is keep hoping and keep trusting that things are progressing as they should. It's not easy but one day at a time. Hopefully our little rainbow babies will be safely in our arms in a few months time 🙏🏼🌈💕

Thanks for sharing and congrats @JC084 Sorry to hear what you've been through in the past. Hopefully the 6 week scan does give you some comfort.

I'm so happy things are going well for you @SnookyPook. It does give me some hope when you hear positive stories! 🌈

thanks @Nic17 🫶🏼

I'm 11 weeks now and it feels like my symptoms have gone since I created this post. I feel so un-pregnant (which I know can be so normal but my brains on the defence questioning everything as I'm so hyper-aware of my body and how I'm feeling).

My scan is next Wednesday so not long to go now, sending positive vibes to everyone.

@Whiterose123 this likely means your placenta has taken over and making you feel better!!! Got everything crossed for your scan and do let us know. I'm about to go in for a scan at 8+3 xx

Whiterose123 · 07/02/2024 10:57

@Nic17 i know that's probably the most logical reason but for my first mmc I lost all symptoms at 10 weeks and found out at 11 weeks I had lost it. That could have been a coincidence, but the timings feel like they align.

Good luck with your scan, let us know how it goes! 🍀

@Whiterose123 I totally understand where your brain is going, honestly I feel for you, pregnancy after loss is so so tough.

My scan this morning went well, dates have caught up a bit and measuring 8+6 xxx

Whiterose123 · 08/02/2024 09:42

@Nic17 Amazing, that's such good news!! That must give you some comfort 🫶🏼

@Whiterose123 I am so happy for you!!!!

Whiterose123 · 01/03/2024 14:26

@Nic17 @JC084 how is everything going for you?

I have a scan next week on the 10th and the nerves/thoughts scan/anxiety is creeping up again.

OP posts:
JC084 · 01/03/2024 14:36

@Whiterose123 thanks for asking. I had my 6 week scan 2 weeks ago, but was looking to be more around the 5 week mark. There was a yolk sac but nothing else at that point.
I then had some bleeding on the Sunday night (quite a bit really) and so I went to a&e - long story short I was put on progesterone and then had a nerve wracking 2 week wait for my next scan.

Had the scan today and saw heartbeat. Am measuring around 7 weeks and all looking healthy 🥰

How far are you now? I have another scan in 2 weeks so at least I don't have to wait too long x

Whiterose123 · 01/03/2024 16:38

@JC084 oh wow, that is quite a bit to have gone through already. I'm so glad that you saw a heartbeat and all looks healthy now. Congratulations. 🌈

Did they offer you a repeat scan or have you booked a private one?

I'm 15 weeks today. I felt reassured at my 12 week scan but i'm starting to feel on edge again.

It's a bit weird right now, I know I'm only 15 weeks, but I don't have any sign of a bump, can't feel anything, symptoms have more or less gone, I just feel so un-pregnant. I'm worried it's another mmc and I just don't know it yet.

I have read that this is normal and it's the time people enjoy the most in pregnancy and I will probably regret not trying to just enjoy it, but I just can't help thinking the worst.

OP posts:
SnookyPook · 01/03/2024 18:05

@Whiterose123 I'm slightly ahead of you at 16+4 and had my 16wk appointment today. I got a bit nervous as was also worrying in case it was a MMC but they listened in with a Doppler and little one was clearly growing well and little heart beating away. I'm not sure the nerves will ever completely leave us, and this stretch between 12 and 20wks is particularly long isn't it. My midwife today was really lovely and said if I need a listen in at any point or my anxiety gets heightened, just reach out to them and they can help to reassure etc. We really are through the worst danger zones now so I am trying to enjoy it as much as possible! Do you have a 16wk appointment coming up? I know not everywhere listens in at this stage but it was so reassuring to hear the heartbeat. Xx

pittynop · 01/03/2024 18:14

@Whiterose123
I had a MMC and felt like this all the way through my pregnancy, we booked a few private scans up to 20 weeks. I'd also had an ectopic following the MMC and I just needed that reassurance that this pregnancy was going to work out. I had severe morning sickness even after we found out about the MMC so symptoms didn't even reassure me. I even felt that way when I could physically see her pushing her feet out in the last few weeks, so I wanted to just write and say it's completely normal to feel that way and to find pregnancy anxious after a loss. It's like PTSD, or it was for me.
DD a healthy four year old now!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 01/03/2024 18:31

@Whiterose123 it's very normal. Your bloating will have lessened - I didn't have any bump till 20+ weeks and even then it was just bigger in the evening. You won't feel baby for a while yet so try to enjoy the second trimester, it's the best!

Whiterose123 · 01/03/2024 19:54

Thanks for your replies, I got quite teary reading them.

@SnookyPook I have my 16 week appointment next Friday with a private scan booked two days after. It must have been lovely to hear the baby's heartbeat today. 🫶🏼

I think you're right @pittynop it's just changed the pregnancy experience for me and I know the odds are in my favour but I thought they were for my last two mmc. I'm hoping after this next scan I will begin to feel more confident that all is going to be ok. I'm so happy that it all worked out for you and appreciate you replying with your experience 🌈

I go through waves, some days I'm super positive and then the next I'm back on Google! I honestly know logically everything is most likely ok, normal for my first baby and I've not had any huge worrying signs but it's just there in the back of my mind constantly this negative outlook and I can't take any of the advice I give out to women in similar situations.

Just to update! I had my scan yesterday and baby was there measuring on track 16+2. ❤️
I'm going to start being positive from here so no more googling and worrying.

Thanks again for all of your earlier replies, I think they really helped me get thorough/up to this stage.

@Whiterose123 what fantastic news! So happy to hear you are in a good place. 🥰 18wks today here! Have definitely found the anxiety easing up a lot the last couple of weeks. 💗

Elphamouche · 11/03/2024 17:11

Very late to this but wanted to say good luck!

I has an MMC found at the 12 week scan 03/04/2023. Had 3 early scans due to spotting and all were fine.

I’m currently 38 weeks with pregnancy number 2, baby is doing well and should be being induced at the weekend.

I avoided scans for the first 12 weeks, we had a private at 16 weeks as I was struggling with 8 weeks between scans, and wouldn’t go public until after the 16 week scan. We have had growth scans with this one, 28 weeks and 36 weeks, those two scans were much easier because I can feel baby moving around before those so I know we’re getting a heartbeat.

I had to go into hospital for changed movement on Saturday - I didn’t think I would notice a pattern, but turns out it became obvious! But still, everything is absolutely fine, I now have another scan tomorrow to check bubs growth (little monkey has shorter legs, but within normal range - I’m 5ft fuck all so hardly expecting a giant 😂).

Sorry I’ve waffled, but my point being is hopefully this time should be absolutely fine for you, try and stay positive, it’s bloody hard but it’ll be worth it.

Thank you!! I’m currently on the sofa watching dirty dancing 😂 nothing happening after my sweep yesterday so just a waiting game now. I want bub here safely but I absolutely don’t want to give birth in any shape or form so I’m quite happy not having a call right now.

I’m shattered so duvet day for me. Enjoy finding out what gender your little one is! Still a surprise for us but we’ll know soon enough ❤️
