I am 6 weeks and already feel like I'm struggling to hide my stomach. I feel so massive already and it's not because I've been eating more because I often don't feel hungry because I'm so bloated. I can't fit into any of my jeans anymore.

When did you start showing/not being able to wear your trousers anymore with your second? When I look online it days 14 weeks which is ages away!

I couldn’t go swimming with my sister (who I was doing weekly sessions with) at 5 weeks because I looked 20 weeks pregnant. It was mainly bloat at that point of course but it didn’t make it look any less like a pregnant belly. I was in baggy clothes until we announced at 10 weeks (because I couldn’t hide it anymore).

everyone Is different, but your experience sounds very similar to mine 😅

MrsB2019x · 01/02/2024 19:35

I’m 9 weeks with my second and feeling huge already too - I definitely caught two colleagues looking at my belly last week!

UrsulaSings123 · 01/02/2024 20:18

Yes we're not planning on announcing until about 14 weeks but I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long!

I found this time of year good for early pregnancy, scarves, long cardigans and the hair bobble trick on my jeans button. Helped me keep it hidden until 20 weeks at work with my second

hopingfor23 · 01/02/2024 20:21

I have been the same. 16 weeks now's and look like I did at 6 months pregnant with my first! Only 9 months between pregnancies so that probably hasn't helped! Everyone guessed o was pregnant before 12 weeks 🤦‍♀️

PickledScrump · 01/02/2024 20:51

My second I looked 8 months pregnant at 8 weeks. Unfortunately it’s bloating and in my experience there really isn’t anything that works to get rid of it. It just eventually becomes a baby bump

KThnxBye · 01/02/2024 20:57

I apparently hid my third well enough that when I took the kids back to school after the six week holiday (baby born in the summer) with the baby, nobody knew where the baby had come from and it gave them all a shock. Some of them assumed I’d adopted! I mean granted I didn’t see them from about 36 weeks on and I wasn’t in the habit of walking up to passing acquaintances and announcing my pregnancies but still, I’d assumed they would have noticed.

So based on that, I’m assuming people mostly don’t notice or care anyway so wear whatever you are comfortable in!

Pretty much right from the start sorry. I tried to get around it by wearing stretchy waisted harem trousers, and dresses instead (it was the end of summer), and going up a scrub size at work, but people still figured it out before the 12 week scan (including my mum at her father's funeral....). I had to give up and buy maternity trousers (which I hadn't needed to with my first) from 10 weeks. The bloat merely became bump, so it was needed.

justmewithmylifetoday · 02/02/2024 06:37

I showed really early with my second. With my first I was 20 weeks or so before it was very obvious! Lots of people told me it's because your body knows what to do and the uterus is never really teeny again and still malleable enough to ping back out again?! Probably not factually correct but made sense to me haha.

Flopsy145 · 02/02/2024 07:13

Yeah it's been very hard to hide with my second, I'm 16 weeks and currently the size I was at 5/6 months with my last 😂 just invest in some jeans extenders, or stretchy leggings with long baggy jumpers for now, I actually found it ass my boobs that gave the gane away because they got so big so quick 😂

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 02/02/2024 12:16

I’m 6+3 with dc3 and don’t have a proper bump yet but get more and more bloated as the day goes on. By the evening my trousers are cutting into me! With DC2 I had a proper bump by 12 weeks.

I have to dress very smartly for work and don’t want to tell them until at least 12 weeks but ideally later. I’ve found wearing a blazer/jacket helps. Slightly dreading the nicer weather as will be harder to cover up.

LettersOfTheAlphabet · 02/02/2024 13:57

Ugh people were congratulating me at 7 weeks as I was so bloated it was obvious 🙈

Mumoftwo1312 · 02/02/2024 14:00

On the other end of the pregnancy...when I was 30wk in my second pregnancy everyone at work kept asking me (sympathetically) when I'd be going on leave! They kept thinking I was a few days from my due date. I was enormous like Violet Beauregarde.

I think after your first pregnancy you just go a bit stretchy

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 02/02/2024 14:11

I didn’t tell anyone until 25 weeks in my second pregnancy. It just wasn’t that obvious. I actually lost weight through sickness and then just hid the bump with baggy clothes & scarves / jewellery. People were really surprised when I did tell them so they hadn’t just been being polite!

Brawcolli · 02/02/2024 14:13

I swear i started bloating from the moment of conception 🥲 I’m 32 weeks now and look like i did days before having my son!

MrsB2019x · 02/02/2024 19:55

These comments are worrying me slightly as I was HUGE with my first (9lb7oz baby plus polyhydramnios) and I feel like surely I can’t get much bigger than I was with her?!

MixedCouple · 02/02/2024 20:22

With my first I started to show it 18 weeks and this time I atarted to show it 10 weeks. Not bloat I felt my uterus very obviously. It is becuase the muscles are uses to it and are weaker then 1st time round.
Now at shy of 16 weeks I am stuggling with all clothes and even my jackets and coast over my belly.

My BFF who is 5'2 and very small had 4 babies all between 9lbs - 10.5lbs. All home births.

@MixedCouple Your BFF is a much braver lady than me 😅

Yeah they weren't easy births very long but she got there.

The day I was born my Mum said a lady gave birth vaginally to a 12lbs baby and the Mum was petite and screaming the ward down scaring all the mums including mine 😂
