I've got a lot of anxiety, and I'm trying to avoid a lot of the doom and gloom around at the moment.
Though I'm 35 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and I received a letter from my eldest school today about the measles outbreak.

Both of my children have had all of their jabs, so they're safe, but now I can't really shake the concern that in a few weeks, I'm going to have this precious little person, with no immunity to measles and it seems rife.

Ugh.

Is the media blowing it out of proportion? I'm a bit scared of trying to chase down any official information because I'm scared the fear will become worse.

How's everyone maneuvering this time with little, little ones?

I totally understand your concern but it might help to bring you perspective to look at the numbers. Out of a population of 67 million, there have only been a very few cases over the whole country. So your chances and your baby’s chances of coming into contact with it are really tiny.

Your baby will have some immunity from you, assuming you’ve been vaccinated, so even if you did come into contact with it, there is protection.

Thank you, thar sounds reassuring, so I can maybe look! I think I've been building it up in
My head to be thousands and thousands.

It's always a case of weighing up if it's better to view the numerate material or not because it can really throw me into deeper anxiety instead of easing it... I hope that makes sense.

I also wondered how much the immunity from my childhood jabs would help baby. I have all the jabs I'm offered, and do the same with the kids- we get ill enough as it is with things we can't afford.

Thank you. I'll be brave and see if I can find some statistics..hoping they'll show as fairly low and then I can take some comfort from that

If you receieved full course of vaccination you will have some protection. But like with anything nothing is 100%.
But that would be the same with any illness flu/influenza/NoroVirus/D&V etc. So many things going about and being exposed to.
