Pregnancy and diarrhoea

Hello!
TMI alert (as you may have gathered from the title hahaha)
I am 30 weeks pregnant with my second child and the last five days all food is just going straight through me 😫
No sickness, feel fine in myself (just tired and tummy feels weird like when you're recovering from a bug) and other than that, feeling ok except my bum is super sore (not helped by the fact I've had haemorrhoids this time round. Pregnancy - the gift that just keeps on giving 😅)

I am just basically needing to wait inside near a loo once I've eaten, because sometime in the next hour (maybe 2) I will be on the loo again. Ouch! So I am not eating until I get home from taking DD to school etc. just in case.

It's not on the list of things to worry about in any of my literature and baby is moving normally etc and I feel very well the rest of the time.

How long would you leave it before calling the midwife? Can't take immodium or anything that I am aware of and not sure how long to put up with this before being concerned.

Anyone with experience of this?

Yeah I have had it all the way thru and I'm now 38 weeks.
No problems with the pregnancy
It is annoying tho. Midwife said that unfortunately it's just something that sometimes happens with some pregnant women. All my readings are fine and I'm putting on enough weight etc...
I suppose I'd rather this than constant morning sickness...
Altho for the first 3 months I had both which was such fun lol!!

Are you taking iron supplements by any chance ? They gave me awful diarrhoea and then sickness 🤢

LER2023 · 31/01/2024 11:17

I didnt want to read and run!

I did have a little giggle at your post.

The gift that keeps on giving as you said! Unfortunately some women are prone to having diarrhoea and others are prone to just sickness, other are both.

Its like your bowel and stomach kind of shuts down when your pregnant!!

Hopefully should be okay soon, if you are worried about how much your going to the toilet then id speak to the midwife or a doctor and see if they can prescribe anything thats pregnant friendly!

Thanks all.

@Icouldseetinsel - the whole pregnancy?! I salute you! I am fed up after a few days. I can't imagine how you're feeling! I had morning sickness which stopped about 12-13 weeks then a reprieve (other than tiredness and haemmeroids) of being ok until Friday just gone. Dealing with both must have been rubbish! 💐I hope the next week or two goes quickly for you!

@sleepandcoffee no iron supplements... just sudden onset of bottom-related-misery

@LER2023 - thanks very much! Hopefully it passes naturally but if not, I'm hoping there is a pregnancy-safe...er... bung or something. I will ask at next appt 🙏🏻
