Hi All, I found out I was pregnant on 16th January and had two sets of blood tests in the days afterwards - the doctors said my HCG levels were doubling every 48 hours or so, and my progesterone levels were good. They said the next step is a 7-week scan (6th February). However, a couple of days after I tested positive I started getting some intermittent cramping, which I have read is normal, but since Thursday night when my cramps were quite painful, they have subsided and I haven't had cramping besides slight twinges in my ovary since then. I haven't had bleeding or any other notable symptoms. Can cramping just stop around 5.5-6 weeks or could this be a bad sign? Any advice or insight would be appreciated <3

Hey so if it helps my story is kind of the backwards version of yours.. I had really bad cramps, then found out I was pregnant and the cramps didn't subside, the hospital tested me and my HCG did not double, it increased by less than 30% on 2 rests 48hrs apart and a scan showed an empty sack. I had no bleeding but continuous cramping.. a week later they brought me back in for a scan an there was a 'baby' with a heartbeat. I was dated as 5 weeks 6 days though this was a week less than I expected.
They advised the pains could be caused by a number of reasons but as there's no bleeding and the pregnancy was progressing, they told me not to worry.. its early days but although I am ceampingni have done throughout. So unless the pain gets to an unbearable level, I wouldn't automatically assume it's anything awful, definitely worth discussing with your provider though at your next appointment xx

@BoyMomma4 thank you so much for your message. I am so glad to hear things are ok with you. I am hoping they are with me too but just feel anxious because my symptoms have changed/almost stopped. But good to know the pains don't necessarily mean anything bad. My healthcare provider wants me to stick with my scan date of next Tuesday (7+3...) so will try to stay positive until then. I hope things continue to go well with you!
