I am reaching out as a new mother seeking guidance on the best brands for baby essentials.

  1. What is the best body wash + shampoo for babies?
  2. Could you recommend a safe and gentle perfume for babies?
  3. In your experience, which type of diapers has proven to be the most reliable?
  4. Are there specific brands of wipes that you found to be effective and gentle?
  5. What diaper cream do you consider the best for preventing and soothing diaper rash?

Additionally, I would love to hear any other tips you have for preparing for a new baby.

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

Water/aveeno
None, why would you?
Cloth nappies, all the disposables leaked poo
Cloth wipes and water
Rarely got nappy rash but sudocreme mostly sorted it but yellow metanium is well loved by many too.

Samesies.

Here’s the revised response with the link added:
Hi there,
I’m so sorry to hear about your little one’s discomfort—it’s heartbreaking to see them in pain! Since the diaper rash hasn’t improved with the creams you’ve tried, here are some suggestions:
Cream Recommendations

For more recommendations, you can check this article: Best Diaper Rash Creams for Babies. In the meantime, avoid baby wipes for cleaning and instead use lukewarm water with a soft cloth. Make sure the area is completely dry before applying any cream, and allow diaper-free time to let the skin breathe. Cloth Diapers Cloth diapers can help by reducing irritation caused by disposable diapers and providing better airflow. Here are some places to check:
  • Amazon: A wide variety of options with fast delivery.
  • Reusable Nappies UK (if local) or other specialty online stores.
  • Etsy: Offers handmade or custom cloth diapers.
If the rash persists or worsens despite these changes, it’s a good idea to follow up with your pediatrician, as it could be a yeast infection or something else requiring specific treatment. Hope your little one gets relief soon! 💕

@catsnore @seven201

Metanium has been discontinued I’m afraid.

For nappies I would 100% recommend trying based on convenience - try the own brand of whichever big supermarket is nearest / has lots of online delivery slots. Ultimately you'll have enough on your plate without rushing out to a specific shop just to buy more nappies - with my first we originally did this with Aldi nappies but soon realised the hassle was not worth it and moved over to Sainsbury’s - maybe not quite as good but a few extra leaks vs supermarket trips were worth it. As others have mentioned you can get pampers everywhere but they cost a lot more than a supermarket own brand for little real difference IMO. We did use some pampers later on for night times as found as they got bigger the absorbency difference mattered more.
