Hi, i’m 21 weeks today but the past four days i’ve been soooo ill with what i think is a cold. It feels more severe than a normal cold i usually get. I’ve worked the last four days through it. I’m off today but back tomorrow and i don’t feel like it’s getting any better yet. I’m exhausted, got a terrible cough and nose is blocked and streaming! throat is sore also. Terrible headache. What makes it all worse is that i work within the nhs and even had patients refusing me to go in consultations with them yesterday because im clearly ill and they are vulnerable which is completely understandable! even colleagues were asking why I was there but i’m made to feel guilty about phoning in by management. Considering i’ve had terrible morning sickness up until 20 weeks and just powered through at work. I’m worried i’m not getting enough rest for the baby and i’m incredibly anxious anyway so every little thing makes me worry. I’m not sure whether to ring in sick tomorrow because i’d normally just dose myself up and get on with it with a cold but i’m really struggling, probably due to the fact that i am pregnant and can’t just take what i want to get through it, plus tired anyway. What would you do? thanks

I have been off all week with exactly the same thing but with nausea on top. My head has been pounding, went to the drs and I have a sinus infection so defo get checked out and get some rest. I’m starting to feel better but not right a week on. I agree with you it’s defo the worst cold iv had! Hope you feel better soon x

I took just shy of a couple of weeks off with similar recently. It developed into a chest infection after about 5 days and then my asthma flared up with it. I take immunosuppressants and everything I get takes a while to shift and pretty much every cold/flu/virus goes to my chest.

I would call in sick tomorrow and get some proper rest to help you recover.

@CMG92 @DemelzaRobins Thankyou both I hope you’re both good now it nearly better! I don’t think i’ve helped myself at all pushing myself through work feeling shocking. There’s some awful things going around atm and my place of work is not the best environment to be in considering i work in a hospital with patients. It’s not even about me i feel so bad being around vulnerable people and it says a lot when they don’t want me in the same room as them. I do think this could turn into a chest infection if it hasn’t already, i have such a chesty cough and phlegm keeps coming up. It’s n it what i get with just the usual cough but who knows. I think i might take a couple more days off to rest up, thankyou x
