Vulva red, swollen and sore 2 weeks after section

I had a C section 2 and a half weeks ago. I had an infection in my wound so I was on antibiotics but I finished them on Tuesday.

Today I noticed my vulva felt a little sore as I was walking around so I went and had a look and it’s quite red, looks a bit swollen and feels like a slight burning sensation. It doesn’t hurt or sting to pee.

I have been wearing pads day and night since giving birth so I thought it could be that had irritated it?

I don’t think it fits the symptoms for thrush but I’ve never had thrush in my life before so I’m not sure.

Typically this happens on a Friday evening when I can’t see a doctor till Monday.

Any idea on what this could be?

When I get thrush my symptoms are the same as you describe. I don't get any discharge.

Put some canesten on and it'll feel so much better

Ugh I had this!

I think it was the pads it is so sore and irritating isn’t it? I got some canesten and some vagisil which helped. Also those pads that you snap and they are like an ice pack helped. Feel for you OP but it does go away!

Probably thrush. You don’t always have to have the discharge with it. I’d get some thrush treatment and give it a go. Won’t do any harm - although do check with a medical person first as you’re only 2 weeks post op. I also found my hormones really crashed after my c section - I think the stress on my body etc just meant everything went really weird. I was having menopausal type night sweats and all sorts for ages, I think the oestrogen levels drop really suddenly which can cause vaginal discomfort too.
