I am nearly 7 weeks pregnant and oh my god I forget every time how absolutely god awful the first trimester is.

I am on cyclizine for my severe morning sickness and I would say it maybe takes the slightest edge of. Should I be asking to try something else? Should it be working better than this?

I’m currently in bed sipping tiny bits of water. I am beyond exhausted, yet when I try take a nap I go all hot in the covers and I can’t sleep. At night I’ve got a delightful teething 1 year old to contend with. So I feel like I’m running on fumes.

God am I just a wimp? I often wonder is it this bad for everybody?

I feel your pain, I'm in my 3rd pregnancy and I felt really bad this time too. I think my age hasn't helped either. I'll be 42 when the baby is born. I also have an underactive thyroid, So I normally feel tired anyway but this was on a different level. I'm now 20 weeks and the baby is due in June, all is well and I have loads of energy again. Its hard but take it as easy as you can and hopefully you have good support that can pick up the slack. Good Luck Mama bear

It ends! Keep going, you're doing a fine, fine job. The first trimester is forever underestimated in regards to how absolutely horrid it is.

I'm in my 2nd pregnancy (27 weeks) and just out the end of HG for the second time... I remember telling my partner that if be fine this time around- our minds are incredible at forgetting, aren't they?! Dose up on the cyclizine and do nothing. I also had ondansetron and cyclizine through a drip, so if it gets more dreadful please do try and get whatever you can to "take the edge off".

P.S I used to wail about how awful I felt, so no... you're not a wimp at all. 💓

Just posting in solidarity! I don’t know how I even managed to have 3 kids! Must have had amnesia!

I hope you get some relief soon.

Hi, no I don't think it's normal to feel that sick that you can't function. I think it's oddly been normalised for some reason! Ask for prochloperazine from your doctor as it works much better than cyclizine and they should give you that if cyclizine doesn't work which it doesn't seem to be for you. I'm currently 8 weeks and Prochloperazine has been a life saver for me!

I feel your pain OP. Pregnant with baby no 2 and I cannot do this again. The first trimester is the absolute worst. I was on ondansetron as I took a reaction to cyclizine and it did stop sickness (not the nausea though!). Sipping on ice drinks, ice lollies and mints whilst dosed up on anti sickness dragged me through that first trimester. I hope the sickness passes for you soon!
