Help! 6 weeks and HCG rising very slowly!

I've just had the blood tests back from my GP to check my HCG levels and they're rising very slowly!

Background. LMP - 7th Dec. 31 day cycles.
Currently 6+5.

Last Tuesday 16th my HCG was 4053
Last Thurs 18th my HCG was 5493
Today 23rd (5 days later) it is 8523

That plus the ultrasound today showed only a gestational and yolk sac.

Has anyone else has this happen before and turn out positive !? I've had several miscarriages so I can only assume its happening again.

If it is failing.. I don't want to take the drug as I had terrible side effects with that last time. How long will it naturally take to miscarry!?

Thanks x

Update. Had an ultrasound today (7+5), and they saw a fetus with a heartbeat. BUT they measured me at 6+1.

Not sure if that, along with slow rising HCG means a potentially failing pregnancy ??

My gut feel is it isn’t good news however you aren’t out the running yet. Try to stay positive but there is a chance this isn’t progressing.

I had the same in my previous pregnancy - early scan at 7+5, saw a heartbeat but only measuring 6+1. Unfortunately that didn't end well, I started bleeding a week after the scan and miscarriage was confirmed 3 days after that. I really hope you get a better outcome than I did.

While I can't predict your outcome my hcg was rising slowly. I'm now 4 months

Were you tracking ovulation @MrsBlue1986 ? If you know when you ovulated and you know you should be 7+5 based on that then there might be more reason to worry. But of course could still turn out OK too.
But if you're just going by lmp and you're not sure on ovulation I'd say this sounds more hopeful.
I really hope it turns out well for you, when is your next scan or bloodwork?

MrsBlue1986 · 31/01/2024 15:49

Hey @Hankthehonk yes I know exactly. LMP 7th December. Ovulate 17th Dec.

They keep telling me implantation might have been late, but seems suspect to me.

I have another ultrasound with the NHS tomorrow (yesterday was private)

Not sure what to think though seeing as it's so far out and HCG wasn't rising. Not had bloods done in nearly 2 weeks now.

@MrsBlue1986 that's good you have another ultrasound so quickly, if there's cause for concern hopefully the NHS would be able to offer more tests and scans. Keeping everything crossed for you, these early weeks are so stressful.
This isn't what you want to hear but I had a scan that measured 6w6 when I knew from ovulation it should have been 7w6. Unfortunately I miscarried a week after the scan. HOWEVER I have seen plenty of stories where these sort of scans result in positive outcomes as well, you could be one of those.

MrsBlue1986 · 01/02/2024 11:00

Update: had NHS scan. They measured me at 5w+6 days. I'm 8 weeks today! How is this possible. Rescan in one week. They also struggled to see the yolk sac even though there is a heartbeat.

Update. Heartbeat had stopped. Missed miscarriage.

@MrsBlue1986 I'm so sorry to hear that. Please do look after yourself and I hope you have lots of support around you. ❤️ Should you need it or feel it will be helpful, there is an amazing support thread here on Mumsnet on the miscarriage & pregnancy loss forum - it was a real lifeline and source of reassurance for me when I had my miscarriage a few months ago.

TheShellBeach · 06/02/2024 18:07

I'm so sorry, OP.
