Potty shot at 16 weeks - has yours been wrong?

hi all,

Currently 16 weeks pregnant with baby no.2 as I already have an 18 month old DS.

I went for a private gender scan yesterday and the sonographer took a while whilst locating the gender and then said shes almost certain it’s a boy, but baby’s legs were crossed over.

After looking at the scan pictures uploaded to the app, the potty shot ones are confusing me slightly as they don’t look like the shots that I got with my first DS (his looked like a turtle at same gestation as I could see penis and scrotum etc). The second pic doesnt even look like it’s attached to bub, could it be possible that’s the cord? My friend also looked over it and said that she can see three lines indicative of a girl, and the bits could just be swollen as baby’s legs were crossed?

Will be happy either way as we just want a lovely, healthy baby but I was just curious as to whether someone’s had the wrong sex at a private scan and gone on to be told something different at 20 weeks +?

☺️

Looks like a boy to me- I’ve got one of each and girl scan didn’t look like yours

Looks like a boy to me! My scans have always been right. Not birthed my girl yet but been confirmed by 3 different people she's definitely a girl 😊 x

This is mine at 16+5 1st baby so nothing to compare it to. Took the sonographer ages to get the gender as baby had a foot in the way but she seemed pretty confident. I'm sure yours is correct I think it's pretty rare that they get it wrong.

That's unmistakably a boy it's very clear.

Looks like a very obvious boy to me and I’m rubbish at seeing these things usually! Congrats, two boys are great.

My scans have correctly predicted boy and girl. Yours looks definitely a boy to me, very clear. I see no lines to indicate girl either, and I'm quite good with these things usually
Congratulations on baby no2

Defo a boy

PurBal · 22/01/2024 06:40

It’s a boy. That penis is front and centre. FWIW I have two and their scans looked different.

Janey3090 · 22/01/2024 13:18

Very confident that's a boy OP, it looks completely different to my girls scan x

Sorry to jump on this thread. I have a similar situation I had a gender scan yesterday and exact 16 weeks and the baby has legs open so the sonograph said she could easily see, it took her 5 seconds to see.
My gut and maybe wishful thinking was saying a girl but they confirmed a boy. What do you think? I am still hoping that it's a girl but I feel like these scans don't really get it wrong when it's a boy. I should be grateful but gender disappointment is a big thing especially as I already have a boy.
