Scan and feeling nervous :(

Hi All,

I’ve had some on off none consistent bleeding in this pregnancy, light and pink. The one time it was more red in colour but again only light. I have been doing cheap tests to make sure it’s not a miscarriage… I’ve had a couple of these which were pink to then bright red almost resembling the full blown period, so its not been anything like that. Tests got darker each time and was appearing before the control line. I told my midwife multiple times about the bleeds i had and she never seem concerned just said to keep an eye on them. But i was getting anxious about it so i called the EPU to see what they say, and my routine scan is 01st Feb which by then i’ll be 13+5 by then. But they had an emergency one for this Monday (22nd) which would make me 12+1, so i obviously snatched her hand off. I know it should be an exciting lovely experience but i am naturally SOOO nervous we’re going to go and find something is wrong 😔.

has anyone had to do this and been ok? I don’t know what i can do either to calm myself down as i know stress isn’t good for baby either.

thanks xxx

I had a difficult fertility journey and had massive scanxiety so I completely understand what you are feeling.

Easier said than done, but try to relax. I found it helped to repeat “I am nervous, but I trust that it is going to be OK” to myself until I believed it.

The bleeding sounds like it’s been light. It also sounds from the tests like the hormones are getting stronger. These are really good signs. Best of luck for tomorrow

@ReetPetity thank you for your message :) I am pretty nervous going to hospitals anyway, but yeah i’m super nervous for this Scan so will be double whammy tomorrow. I am trying to be positive but i’ve been so ill with Flu, Chest Infection, and now Dental Infection 😖. So I’m also trying to tell myself it could also be my body has taken a battering this first trimester that it could be that. I did the tests purely because i thought its worth checking isn’t it, so when it darker and then darker over the control line, then started appearing before the control line i thought surely this has got to be a positive? So i stopped testing. It was driving me mad really. Reassuring a little at first then started becoming a little obsessive so stopped.

thankyou!

Hello.
congratulations on your pregnancy! And glad you managed to get an earlier scan.
Ive had a missed miscarriage and couple early miscarriages previously.
I am currently 18+5 weeks pregnant.
during this pregnancy Ive actually had quite a few non consistent light red bleeds, some seemed to be after BM defo from vagina sorry for TMI.
I was scanned at 6,8 and 12 weeks heard heartbeat at 17 weeks.
everything so far has been fine with baby but I do still have anxious thoughts but easier to reassure myself especially after 12 weeks scan!
Hope this offers some reassurance about the bleeds and hope all will be well!
keep us updated xxx

@Em1996 thankyou for sharing this! I wonder if the couple of miscarriages we had previously has had some form of effect on this pregnancy. Almost like a threatened miscarriage because thats what its been used to. I never had any bleeding in my 2 other pregnancies so i think thats whats alarmed me more so this time. I’m glad i’ve got an earlier scan too, waiting till the 01st would have been soooo hard. I’m so
glad your pregnancy is going well! I will update of course x

Hey OP. I've had the same as you this week. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow. All week on and off it's been pink but today has been darker.. then brown.. then red.. EPU said to me to wait and see but if not I can go to a&e or wait for my scan - also on the 1st when I'd be 12+3. I feel okay in myself and hoping for best. I had bleeding slightly with my first but not as much as this if that makes sense. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Mangotango39 · 21/01/2024 20:50

Hey OP
totally get your anxiety and glad they have you in for an earlier scan.
I kept spotting in my first trimester , 2/3 times a week. Mostly pink but then had some brown and red occasions.
By second trimester I had multiple bright red bleeds!!!

They never found a cause and I am now about to pop (scheduled c section). All the bleeds just stopped one day.

wishing you so much luck xx

Mangotango39 · 21/01/2024 20:51

Oh also, I have had two mc before this pregnancy and did not bleed in those. So very strange!

OopsieeDaisy · 21/01/2024 22:14

Sorry you’re going through this worry OP. Spotting is very common in pregnancy and happens for different reasons. I’ve had it with both of mine and the EPU don’t tend to do anything unless the bleeding is accompanied by cramps. You haven’t mentioned any cramps so I’d take that as a positive sign. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for your messages! Just an update as i think it will help others… I unfortunately baby stopped growing at 9 weeks and 2 days and no heartbeat was detected. So strange as i’ve had no real pain. Got to wait to see now whether passes on its own in next 2 weeks or whether to have tablets and be a day patient.

thanks for all jumping on the post x

@cgwx I'm so sorry. If you want to talk im in a similar boat. Was in a&e most of today. Clots last night were bad but also at the hospital were worse. I also had dangerously high heart and BG rates. They did a scan in a&e to check for blood mass in my uterus. All clear. He could see something still attached to the uterine wall but gynae can't see me til tomorrow so I'm waiting for a text with an emergency appointment time.
On my way home now feeling a bit of everything.
I'm so sorry for your loss x

I'm so sorry. It is as if I was reading my own posts again. It happened just a few months ago.
It is painful, sometimes very very painful but you will find peace. God bless your little one!
