High PI and small- ish baby 31 weeks

Wondering if anyone has a similar experience that can offer some reassurance. Growth scan at 31 weeks (as I have low papp-a) revealed EFW
on 25th centile and high PI above 95th centile. I'm already on aspirin since 12 weeks due to the papp a. Consultant seemed unconcerned and happy to recheck in 3 weeks as was already planned, I expected them to want to rescan sooner. I'm already very anxious owing to a difficult history of loss and googling the issues has sent me into overdrive. Midwife thinks precautionary at the moment and also not concerned but I have an overwhelming feeling that this pregnancy is taking a nosedive. Anyone got some (hopefully reassuring) information?

I had this in my first pregnancy with DD1 and i had also been taking asprin. At my 28w scan, her growth was dropping and then at the rescan at 37w, her growth had dropped below 9th centile. I wasnt offered anything extra inbetween 28w and 36w but i suppose that might differ between trusts. Induction was discussed and agreed for 39w but she actually came spontaneously at 38w. She was 5lbs 12oz (2.6kg) in the end, so she was a little one, but at 2.5yrs old, she is now 75th centile for both height and weight and absolutely in proportion 😊 She was poorly at birth (an infection so not related to her growth or the high PI in any way), but we had a bit of trouble establishing breastfeeding because she was so little and sleepy. I got great early support from the infant feeding team and we ended up combi feeding for nearly 9months.

Also have high PI in this pregnancy but so far im 28w and baby's growth is holding steady at 50th centile. Bit of an anxious wait for the next growth scan though.

Thank you @CrispAppleStrudels all I am reading are scary medical statistics, it's lovely to hear that your daughter is doing so well and makes me feel allot more optimistic about the prospect of an early delivery if needs be. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I'm dropping by with an update for anyone searching in the future. At 40 weeks we had static growth predicted on the scan, PI was fine but CTG monitoring took along time to pass criteria. I went in at 40 +5 for an elective section (my preference) since I was told baby was too small for labour. We got scrubbed up when a consultant reviewing my notes disagreed and thought growth was OK.. we agreed for waters to be broken. Baby girl born a few hours later, absolutely fantastic birth super smooth recovery and healthy baby! Fairly small 6lb 5oz and heavily calcified placenta so IUGR was likely the correct diagnosis. 4 months in and she's caught right up and on 60th centile. @CrispAppleStrudels hope you are doing OK too!

@Chasingbaby2 congratulations on the birth of your baby girl and thank you for sharing your positive birth story!

All the estimates in my first pregnancy were way off! I was told everything was bang average all the way through, between 45th and 55th centile for everything...... right up until the last scan 2 days before she was born.
She came out looking like a tiny skinned rabbit, 5lbs 10oz and on the 8th-10th centile for everything. Family had to rush out buying smaller clothes and nappies!
She's now 4 and caught up entirely.

Oh that's a brilliant update, @Chasingbaby2. Congratulations and hope you are both doing well!

DD2 was born in April at 39 + 3 and weighed 6lbs 3oz. So not quite as little as her sister but still on the small side. My placenta looked fine in delivery but i developed preeclampsia towards the end of pregnancy so that was likely the issue for us this time. She had a really bad tongue tie which took a while to get sorted, but she is slowly starting to creep up the centiles so we are getting there!
