Hi all, I’m going to sound mental here but I’m currently 5w1d pregnant and I’ve had 2 chemical pregnancies before this so I’ve been super anxious and paranoid. I was getting dye stealers all of last week but my test this morning is definitely a bit lighter and now I feel physically sick and convinced I’m going to lose this pregnancy too. Did this happen to anybody else and did it turn out to be okay? Darker test is last week, lighter test is today

cant offer any advice, my first and only pregnancy ended in MC around the 7/8 week mark in December and just found out I’m pregnant again. Paranoid about a chemical and testing daily too. Have you tried a digital? I took a digital on Thursday and said 2-3. Going to try another this Thursday coming and see if I get a 3+! We probably need to step away from the sticks, it’s just so hard after a loss. I’m with you x

I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s SO difficult being pregnant after a loss, isn’t it? I seriously underestimated how hard it would be to be honest, never felt anxiety like this. Have you booked an early scan? I did do a digital test on Monday and got 2-3 weeks so told myself I would stop testing then but have still been testing every day, it’s the only thing that reassures me but at the same time also drives me insane lol. I’ve just used up the rest of the 11 sticks in the box to try stop myself from testing again and they all came back really dark again so think it must’ve just been a one off dodgy test (I probably sound mental typing all of that out hahaha) and also I didn’t believe in the book effect and don’t know if it would even take place this early but I diluted the sample for a load of the tests and they do actually look to be a bit darker than the other ones so think there might actually be some truth to that. Sorry I’ve written so much, just seriously freaked me out, partner thinks I’m mad xx

Don’t apologise I feel EXACTLY the same. Anxiety off the charges and can’t relax. My partner doesn’t get it all either, men!!!
great news we got a 2-3 I think, shows a good level of HCG.
I was in and out of the EPU that much during my first pregnancy it’s given me PTSD so I don’t want to put myself through going again. Also think my partner would be annoyed! Me and my doctor agreed to go for a scan in 4 weeks which will make me 7 ish weeks post ovulation so in theory would be plenty to see. Doctor reminded me most people don’t have a scan until 12 weeks so to keep calm and try to think of this as a normal pregnancy. Easier said than done!!
you doing to go for an early scan? X @Ttc2324

Hope all goes well with your pregnancy OP. I can totally understand your anxiety, it must be really hard not to test!

Hi, I was doing numerous tests around 6 weeks pregnant when I first found out and I too had the shock of seeing a couple of tests later in the week with a lighter line than before. I panicked, did my usual thing of Googling like a mad woman and came across the hook effect. Basically when your HCG levels get too high the tests struggle to interpret the levels. The way to test the theory is to wee in a cup and then dilute with a bit of water, making urine not as concentrated. Sounds totally bizarre but I did it and sure enough I did a test and my line was very very strong.
however, please don’t panic if not as the lines really don’t mean an awful lot and certainly don’t suggest anything bad!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I completely understand your concerns op , I was exactly the same but my advice is to stop testing. You'll drive yourself mental. My tests got really light around 8 weeks. Tried diluting urine with water. Sometimes they would appear darker, sometimes not.
I'm now 14 weeks
I've also experienced chemical pregnancies.
It's impossible to say really, all you can do is wait or book a private scan but testing repeatedly like that isn't good for your health. I lost so much sleep over it and causes myself so much stress

I have no advice to give, unfortunately, but I think the second test still has a pretty good thick line. It is also dependent on how diluted the urine is etc, so please try not to lose hope yet. Sending lots of positive thoughts xx
