Vitamin D in pregnancy

Hi

Just read a topic about high dose vitamin D in pregnancy. My community midwife told me in last pregnancy that the 10mcg in the pregnacare tablets is enough so I just wanted to know if that really is enough as I’m reading about high dose vitamin D in threads here.

How much did you take?

Thank you in advance.

I take high dose but only because I was deficient in vitamin d before pregnancy and was supposed to be taking a higher dose every day anyway.

There is no harm in higher doses of any vitamin as your body will get rid of any excess anyway. But if there are no concerns and your blood tests are fine you might be okay with what is in pregnacare!

Have you had your booking bloods done yet? Mine showed what my vit D level was and that was used to discuss with my midwife whether i should take a higher dose. Last pregnancy my levels were fine so i didnt need to and just took pregnacare. This pregnancy, i was deficient so i have been taken 1000ui since around 9weeks ish when the blood results came back.
