Did sonographer reveal gender?

Currently 15 weeks & had a scan recently. After stating out loud but seemingly to herself 'oh and there's the potty shot!', I could swear the sonographer repeatedly referred to baby as he/him. I wasn't the only one who hears it.
Not fussed or angry or anything...just wondering if I'm reading into things too much!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Could have, but some also choose one to use, sometimes they refer to their own children (like I would say him b/c I have a son).

Hoping for a great pregnancy for you. I love being a boy mum :)

I don't think that would make me feel I knew the sex. Did she ask you if you planned to find out? I wonder why she even went to the potty shot if she thought you might not want to know...

Wouldn’t worry about it. First pregnancy one Sonographer referred to baby as ‘she’ when I didn’t want to know sex. But it did play on my mind until birth! I had a boy. We have found out this time and told it’s a girl twice but still won’t believe it until born day 😆

When I went for my 12 week scan, they specifically told me that they refer to all early scans as a HE until they have confirmation later down the line so should I hear a HE before the 20 week scan don't think too much into it. In my instance HE was actually a HE :)

Mine referred to all babies as she. It sounds better than calling it ‘it’

Daisies12 · 12/01/2024 08:23

No sonographer ever can tell you how your child will express their gender identify. ITS SEX!!

PickledScrump · 12/01/2024 10:18

they all usually either say he or she as parents don’t tend to like their babies being referred to as “it”. Don’t read anything into it.

During one of my later scans, the sonographer referred to DS as he. We already knew we were having a boy, but she panicked slightly and asked if we know the sex.

Apparently this is a thing in some hospitals - refer to the baby as he to distinguish from she being the mother, helps when you need to communicate quickly and accurately in medical emergency situations

I was going to sex exactly this - that's what I always thought anyway

I never understood why they couldn't just say "baby" in a singleton pregnancy instead of "it", "he" or "she"

Oh give it a rest. Zero point to your comment, totally irrelevant, what a waste of time.
