Rfm with twins?

Hi guys,

So I’m 26+6 today with DCDA twins.

Since last Wednesday I’ve been having reduced movements from both twins. Most of the time twin 2’s movements will return to normal strength just less movements than I’m used to. We was seen by the mcu on Sunday who did a bed side scan and listened in to babies at the same time. Twin 2 had a slight deceleration in heart rate but did return to normal. However twin 1 is the one I’m worried about. In the last 4 days I’ve felt her move all of about 5 times. She was head down and towards my left side and twin 2 is breech and towards my right. I can normally feel both twins move at the same time during their active hours and they were both very active babies but I can only feel any movement on the right side, none on my left.

Will be calling the mcu again today to see if they can listen in again as I’m just not satisfied that twin 1 is okay. But in the meantime has anyone got any positive stories about this happening to them and both twins being fine. I’m not sure if they are just running out of room in there or what but I’m getting more and more worried as the days go by😔

No stories but if you're not sure they're ok go in right away and keep going back until you are sure.

Meeee. Turns out one placenta was on the front/side which blocked the feeling of movements on that side.

Mine are non identical so two separate sacs/placentas etc. (DCDA)

They’re stinky teens now, but I remember having the same worries and drinking ice cold water to get them moving for scans etc. I had placental scans too as the flow to one seemed a bit less than the other. My local hospital (big teaching hospital) had a policy of at least monthly scans plus I had extras cos they needed to be ELCS because of the placental positions. The other twin’s placenta was almost total previa and so I was taken in to hospital at 34 weeks just in case I suddenly dilated. I didn’t - and was bored rigid until they did the c section at 36+0. They were fat lumps, 13lb 8oz of babies so I would have popped if I’d gone any longer. I was BEGGING for them to be out as I was the size of a small family car.

Best of luck. Twins are fabulous but also a level of chaos and madness too which hasn’t subsided!

Not twins, but I had recurrent episodes of reduced movements and they were always super lovely and advised me to come in if worried.

No cause found for mine, booked for induction due to reduced movements but laboured spontaneously, now have a chunky 13mo old!
