Duphaston or Progesterone success with threatened miscarriage?

Last year I had 3 very early miscarriages (have 2 boys - age 2 & 5. Very straightforward conceptions & pregnancies)

Pregnant again - approx.6-7weeks. On Saturday night I started bleeding. Very light. Just when I wiped. When straight to hospital. Given my history they diagnosed it as a threatening miscarriage and put me on duphaston - synthetic progesterone (I'm on holiday in France). 2*10mg a day. It's been 3 days and I sometimes have very light (almost none) bleeding, sometimes brown, sometimes heavy (like a period) bright red with clots. Pregnancy tests still a very dark line. Follow up scan isn't until next week. I was hoping the duphaston would have stopped the bleeding by now (Tues late afternoon).

Anyone had any experience with duphaston or similar progesterone treatment in response to threatened miscarriage? Be grateful to hear from you. Thanks

I'm on progesterone but my dose is much higher (800mg Cyclogest + 25mg Prolutex). I had spotting and a bleed early on at 6 weeks and it lasted for about a week. I'm currently 12+2 and baby was fine at the scan last week. I'm having another on Thursday so keeping my fingers crossed.

If it keeps going, perhaps ask for a higher dose. Have they done a scan, yet? Good luck. I hope it gets sorted out quickly.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! So pleased to hear yours is progressing well :) I think the brand you're on is prescribed at a higher dose than duphaston (which is the only one available here). I have a follow up scan on Fri so keeping fingers crossed I've not miscarried by then and will then ask my doctor at home if I can switch to a higher dose/different brand like yours - thank you.

You said you bled for a week - was it light or heavy, and was it consistent? How long did the progesterone take to kick in? Mine is up and down, but when it's heavy, there's quite a lot & with small clots. Which is worrying me

I had one heavy bleed which made me go to A&E (I've had 4 previous ectopic and 2 chemical pregnancies so I'm high risk anyway) and they did a scan. I then had another at my gynaecologist a few days later as erll. It was mostly just light spotting or a bit of pink discharge when wiping and they couldn't find the cause of the spotting.

I had already been on the progesterone beforehand because it was a kryo transfer (ivf) and my progesterone levels tend to be low anyway. I just checked with my clinic after and they added the Prolutex. I have to continue to take all of my medication until the end of this week.

Good luck. I hope you'll get a positive outcome.

Progesterone saved my 3 child’s life. So pleased you are on it. Yes I had brown and white discharge which stressed me out so in the end I put them up my bum! All bleeding stopped within a week. All 3 children were threatened miscarriages (2 miscarriages between second and third child) and my thirds threatened misscarriage was SO SEVERE I had lost all hope then a midwife said you need progesterone you bleed all the time in early pregnancy and that midwife is the reason my son is sleeping next to me now. Sending lots of strength to you during these uncertain weeks ahead x
