Measuring 1.5 weeks behind - early pregnancy

Hello

Looking for good and bad experiences to help me understand my chances! I should be around 7weeks 4/5 days based on ovulation but at an early scan last week (when I was 6 weeks 5/6) baby measured at 5w2d with no HB.

Fast forward to today when I was expecting inevitable bad news there was a strong heartbeat!! But at 7w4/5d I'm only measuring around 6w.

I know the main thing is the HB but I'm so worried about these measurements. Has anyone been in a similar situation and it turned out okay? I have a rescan in 2 weeks

Well it’s great news that you’ve seen a heartbeat which means that baby is developing between scans which I would take as a huge positive. The measurements are so tiny at that stage that dating can be off. I hope it’s good news for you.

I found out at 12 week scan that I was measuring two weeks behind which would have put conception at the same time as I got a positive test. She never caught up and I never got an explanation, they just said I must have my dates wrong but it wasn’t possible. She’s now 12 years old.

@PickledScrump @Bumble84 thanks both - I'm cautiously optimistic. They didn't seem too concerned, they said the HB was strong so to see what the next two weeks bring.

I know it can go either way, but glad to hear it can also end positively. I'll be sure to update this thread either way in case someone like me comes along in the future asking the same question!

My first one was always 2 weeks behind and I knew exactly when I had ovulated. Not sure what it was but she is now 13! Good luck!! Hope you get some peace at your next scan so you can enjoy your pregnancy!

@Happyface82 thank you! You're all giving me hope that this could turn out okay :) I suppose conception and pregnancy is never an exact science

I had IVF so know exactly when the embryo was put in yet I've measured 4/5 days ahead on every scan so far. No explanation other than it implanted and grew quickly..so I assume it can also go the other way.
When I had a MMC 6 months ago the sonographer said it's not uncommon for people to be 2-3 weeks out on dates.
As long as the foetus is making progress I would take as a positive.

Hey - just bumping this thread for more stories if possible. Scan is on Monday and my mind won't make its mind up on whether we're feeling positive about it or not

Hey! How was your appointment?

ThelastRolo20 · 22/01/2024 20:33

@Happyface82 unfortunately not good news for me. Baby never grew after the last scan so heartbeat must have stopped shortly after. Having surgical management tomorrow
