Dying hair during pregnancy.

Hi all

What advice would you give to dying your hair in pregnancy, or what advice have you been given?

I usually dye my hair at home just using a box dye. I’ve googled it and it says it is generally safe but I’m just not sure.

Are there any ‘safe’ hair dyes out there?

I’m well overdue dying my hair. I was meant to do it over Christmas but I just napped the whole holidays…. turns out I’m pregnant so that was probably why haha.

I’m literally coming up to 4 weeks now.

Hi I remember going to my OB with that questions. He advised after the 16week mark.
although there are many opinions on internet

Some women wait until after the 1st trimester but it's not contraindicated in any part of pregnancy as far as I know

I was having my hair dyed every four weeks whilst pregnant with my DS and I had a beautiful healthy baby. I'm 6 weeks and booked in for a full head next week.

Best advice I was given is do what you feel is right for you and your baby! And if in any doubt, get advice from your MW or GP.

There’s loads of conflicting info. First trimesters better, thirds better, should never do it at all, it’s fine all the time etc.
I figured hairdressers are coming into contact with those chemicals and fumes for 8+ hours a day and we don’t hear about them having to stop work through their pregnancies because of it, so half an hour for me would probably be fine.
I think you’re ingesting and breathing in and touching so much bacteria and pollutants all day, that we have to be realistic and weigh up what we can manage and what’s worth stressing about.
But that was my decision, just do whatever you’re comfortable with.

I'm in the exact same position and stressing over what to do!
I had a shadow root done last time I was there (about 5 months ago if not more) and now my natural colour root as well as the shadow is making it look horrendous, am absolutely desperate!
Lmk if you find out for definite either way!!
