Growth scan and femur length

Had my 3rd growth scan today at 35+1. Been told I'm having a chunky baby.

HC was in 94th Centile, AC was in 96th centile but the femur was only in the 31st centile. So overall baby has plotted fine on my growth chart - just below 90th centile.

Because the difference between femur and AC is more than 50 centiles, I've been sent away with a home glucose testing kit for GD. I've never been tested before as always plotted below 90th centile therefore no further action was deemed necessary.

I'm really surprised about the femur as both husband and I are tall and we expected baby to be 'long' but it sounds like this isn't the case and its worrying me a bit.

Has anyone else had this?

Take growth scan results with a pinch of salt. Also both my DSs have had short femurs on growth scans. Both have been long in the body with shorter legs (think sleepsuits being tight on their undercarriage with room in the legs). My second DS is still a baby but my nearly 4 year old had a sudden growth spurt earlier this year - 4cms in 1 month, all his legs! He is around 90th centile for height and I remember his femur being 19th centile on his growth scan!

I was worried about the femur length of my first born - it was the only part of them tracking quite a bit smaller than average rather than larger. Mine had an enormous AC.

They're now fine and tall for their age. Slim too. I didn’t have gestational diabetes.

AC was average but DS's femur was 17th centile and HC kept increasing until by the final growth scan it was over 97th and the sonographer had to go and check with the consultant if he wanted to investigate it further! The consultant just said something about having lots of space for brains.

DS is 4 now, he is on the short side and frankly he does have a massive head 😂 But it's not a problem - we just go up a size in hats and down a size in everything else.

Btw they also said he was going to be a chunky baby and he came out (at term) 7lb4oz.
