Is there anything I can take for a sore throat?

I’m 20+5 and been struggling with a really sore throat for the past few days. It’s at the point now I’m finding it sore to swallow, what I can take to help? A quick google has not been helpful as looks like I can’t take anything, do I just have to ride this out?

No runny nose or bad cough involved, just the sorest throat I’ve ever had and slightly swollen glands 😩

A teaspoon of honey might sooth it a bit or you can try mixing warm water with lemon and honey.
I thought paracetamol was safe in pregnancy unless guidelines have changed recently.
I think it might be worth going to your local pharmacy and have a look at their cold and flu section and read the labels to see what is safe or even better speak to the pharmacist to see if there is anything they can suggest. They might have soothing pastilles that could be safe to use.

Paracetamol's fine isn't it? I used to (well, still do!) put a soluble paracetamol in a mug of hot squash. I had tonsillitis a couple of times in pregnancy and it was the only thing that helped.

I'm suffering from the exact same thing at the moment - so painful! Sage tea is antibacterial, astringent and really soothing. It tastes disgusting but, IMO, it's the only OTC thing that works. Also, take whatever painkillers are permitted in pregnancy.
In your shoes, six days in with no sign of improvement, I would consider antibiotics. I was prescribed penicillin yesterday and less than 24 hours later, my throat is miles better already.

All the above suggestions would work I think. I also heard recently that marshmallows can’t give temporary relief 😂 not sure if someone has said it just as an excuse to eat marshmallows though haha

Strepsils are good when pregnant. I had the flu when pregnant and took paracetamol and Strepsils that also helped blocked noses.
Make sure you double check on the packets as I think there are one or two that have other things added so aren't suitable.

Soothers are fine to have during pregnancy and provide some temporary relief. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm pretty sure you can take paracetamol.
Hot water with honey and lemon
Sucking on chocolate can help coat throat and try ice lollies to ease the pain. Obviously don't sit and eat really unhealthy high calories ones but you get lollies that are mostly pure orange juice or apple juice or those little milk lollies .
Take some vitamin c
Immune system is lowered in pregnancy

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I’m constantly on the orange juice as it’s about the only thing I can drink during my pregnancy. I’ve had a bad asthma flare up so that could be affecting it.

My lovely partner finished work before me today so has stocked me up with paracetamol and soothers. I’ll be spending the weekend resting and trying to kick this as I’ve a busy week at work next week.
