Flu & Chest Infection in Pregnancy

Hi Everyone,

I am currently 9+4, i’ve had spotting on and off during this first trimester. Midwife never seemed too concerned. Anyway, I have come down with a horrible bout of flu, and have now got a horrible cough which has turned into a chest infection. I am on antibiotics and been told to rest and only take paracetamol for pain relief as and when. Naturally i’m worrying about all this effecting baby.

was wondering if there was other remedies or suggestions that people have to help? I’m absolutely shattered from Pregnancy (naturally in first trimester) but also not sleeping brilliantly so it’s a double whammy. Coughs driving me up the wall as it’s a horrible deep barking cough. And overall, just feel so rotten!

thanks for advice in advance, C x

I've had a pretty bad cold for over a week now but not as bad as yours. Went to the GP today and he's told me to inhale salt water ( I dissolve salt in a bowl of hot water and then breathe that in for about 10 minutes) twice a day and to gargle with sage tea (not recommended to drink it in pregnancy).
Hope you are feeling better soon.
