One Step Pregnancy Tests Accurate?

Hi all, I'm completely confused and need answers with these one step tests. I should add that I'm not trying to get pregnant and only tested as I've been feeling strange.

I've done possible 7-8 of these one step tests 10mlU from amazon over the past 3 days.

Panicked when the first one I did had a definite second line (although faint) appear straight away and within the 5 mins.

But then i've read lots of reviews on false positives with these, so unsure if I have a dodgy batch?

I've then taken loads more to confirm and i've had a mix of 50/50 positives and negatives. Although I tried the water test and that was completely negative.

I did a clearblue on the second day and it was negative (although there was a strong blue line appear later which I assume was an evap)

If these one steps are correct the lines haven't got any darker and still getting mixed results. However, the ones that are positive were mostly done in the morning.

I'm due my period around this time or I am a few days late as I don't really track them. Been feeling sick. Have acid reflux and have sharp period-like pains but they feel a bit different and lower down.

Help!
Thanks :)

Hey, looks like a positive to me :) false positive isn't possible as it needs to detect hcg levels which only rise during pregnancy. Hope that helps! Congrats 😊

Thanks for replying 😊 that is what I thought but it is baffling me that the CB early tests which are also 10mIU are neagative. I did a home bargains early last night and that was also negative but the one steps are still coming up with the faint positives. Still no period and feeling dizzy / queezy 🤢

That is odd, maybe give it a few days, buy a new batch and try test again? I know it's not easy I'm currently testing daily driving myself insane!

User15432674 · 05/01/2024 12:54

I think I will do that. Thank you! Yes its very confusing and drives you crazy haha. Good luck to you

The "false positives" I got on the one step tests were super faint barley visible and hardly any colour so most definitely indent/ evap lines. Super frustrating if you're testing early and a bit of a squinter looking for lines!

Yours look to be coloured and are darker with each tests like mine this month so I would say congrats you are pregnant

Thanks for your help and congratulations! Can I ask when you bought these tests and if they are from Amazon?

I'm still getting negatives on other tests which is confusing the life out of me 🙈 But got alot of symptoms and feel very off. I wasn't trying to get pregnant either would just like answers either way

Yes I got them from amazon. They are sensitive to 10mui which is very sensitive like a frer. More sensitive than blue dye ones and things like clear blue digital. .which others have you tried? Maybe do another in the morning and see if there's any progression ? Or try a first response early response x

ApplePie86 · 06/01/2024 14:19

I find that the one step ones are incredibly faint in general.

Contrary to what some believe, false positives are possible however VERY rare. I'm one of the rarities and have had a few times. These are caused by cysts (rupturing I think). PCOS related.

As a guide, here my one step ones take over last couple days compared with Clearblue...

Congrats! Thanks for your help.

I'm starting to think I was one of the rare cases of a false positive as I've done another clear blue early test today (which is 5 days after the first positive) and it's still completely negative.

It's messing with my head got no idea what's going on. I still have symptoms and no period 🤦‍♀️

I’ve had a lot of maybe lines with one step. I generally do one step, and the last two pregnancies if I see a line on one step I switch to first response. I don’t bother with clear blue.

User15432674 · 10/01/2024 19:23

Thanks all for your responses.
Just an update, I bought another packet of one steps to compare and i've had all negatives. So it seems that I may have had a faulty batch..?🤦‍♀️

However still no period and very strange pains in stomach and back so I don't know what's going on.

Was you pregnant in the end as I'm experiencing the same thing!

PurpleRayne89 · 26/05/2024 07:39

@Lillypop88 Me too, all of my one step tests are positive and the FRER is negative. I think I have a bad batch which is giving false positives. What happened with you in the end? I definitely won’t be buying these tests again. Far too unreliable.

User15432674 · 26/05/2024 11:47

@Lillypop88 @PurpleRayne89 Hi, I wasn't pregnant. Turned out to be false positives I think unfortunately. Hope you get the outcome that you want :)

@User15432674 I am sorry to hear that. False positives can be cruel. What brand test did you find to be unreliable? The one step tests are awful.

PurpleRayne89 · 26/05/2024 11:59

@User15432674 your story sounds exactly like mine. One step were giving me reliable and quite dark positives. FRER and CB were negative despite being more sensitive. They’re complete bs and cruel.
