Cramps in early pregnancy

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
I wanted to ask if anyone has had quite severe cramps during 4-6 weeks of pregnancy. Sometimes it's really sharp, other times like very very bad period pain! Today seems a bit worse than it has been for the last week or so. No spotting or bleeding.
I had a miscarriage in July at 10 weeks. I had minimal cramps during that pregnancy until the actual miscarriage. Just really hoping this isn't the early stages of another one 😢
I'd love to hear if anyone experienced this and had a positive outcome! Thank you 🙏🏼

I remember with my first pregnancy I had the most terrible pains.

I was very early on, I still have no idea what caused them but they were unbearable. I remember sitting on the loo at work in agony!!

I had period pains until about 20 weeks too.

She was nearly 2 weeks late and 8 pounds (I am very petite).

Oh I also had spotting too until about 16 weeks on and off xx

@claire913 I don’t have them anymore but up until I was 4 weeks I had very bad af like cramps. They felt just like they are on day 1 and I was so sure I was starting my period.

@Bringonthesunforthewashing thank you! That's reassuring!!

@emmatcc1 mine seem to have starting around 4 weeks and have persisted for the last 2 weeks!

I had a very creaky, crampy uterus for a good bit of the first trimester with this pregnancy! It's my third so I didn't expect anything like this, but I'm now 32 weeks and all is well so I guess it was just the pain of the uterus expanding. If you're worried, a scan at 8 weeks was the best money I've spent in a long time.

@Thankyouthankyoujellybean thanks so much for sharing! Will definitely go for an 8 week scan just to check on everything and ease some anxiety!

I'm having the same right now, I'm 5+5. I've had mild cramps since I got my positive but the past few days it's been really bad, doesn't last too long but it's not pleasant at all. I'm pretty sure I've also got trapped wind too 😳 something I've never really suffered with but I think that's causing a lot of the pain.

From everything I've read it is quite normal though, as long as there's no bleeding with it

claire913 · 05/01/2024 11:03

@Karinx it's so unpleasant and so worrying! When I had my miscarriage last year it did start with spotting before pain so hoping this is all just normal 😊 when will you go for a scan?

@claire913 it really is. As it's my first I don't know how anything is supposed to feel either so I'm anxious about everything! I need to phone the midwife today to get my first appointment sorted and then I guess see about my first scan. I have been thinking about booking an early scan for 8 weeks though, so in 2 weeks time

I had cramping from the day my period was due so was convinced I was just coming on as felt exactly like period pains. I then had on and off cramping probably until week 8, I'm now just over 12 weeks and have had a positive first scan and getting more of the round ligament pain when I turn or cough in an odd position and that's more across my tummy rather than directly over uterus. I also had spotting twice once after sex and once after exercise around 7 weeks which midwife said was normal.
I put my cramps down to having a c section scar stretching out this time but my friend is pregnant with her first at the mo and also had serious cramps! Hope all goes well for you ❤️
