13 weeks and feeling worse

Hi all, I’m exactly 13 weeks today and was hoping to feel better soon, however if anything over the past week or so I’m feeling worse, with more nausea and tiredness, more food aversions, ie this week I can’t eat eggs but I was fine with eggs up until a few days ago.

Just topped off with retching in the park whilst walking my dogs this morning 🤢 but I’m normally not nauseous until the evenings.

Anyone else experienced this? Does it normally get worse before it gets better or is that wishful thinking? X

Hey, I was quite bad well beyond the first trimester unfortunately. I hope you start to feel better soon x

OutYerEd · 01/01/2024 10:22

I had morning sickness until 18 weeks with DC1. Not much puking, but terrible nausea, retching and food aversions.

With DC2, I had hyperemesis, so was sick most of the pregnancy!

In my experience I'd say it's more weeks 16-18 you start to feel better xx

mamahg · 01/01/2024 10:27

I'm 14+5 and feel exactly the same. Random retching throughout the day, and let me tell you when dealing with raw chicken: it's HELL 🤮. I've actually vomited a few times during this week when I couldn't take it anymore. Very funny about smells too, even the faintest smells nobody else can pick up on makes me gag. I also have days where I eat something then the week after or a few days after Ive gone off it. Like you I can't stomach eggs either even though I was fine with them at the start 🤮 can't wait to get back to normal once baby is here.

I had bad nausea and sickness from weeks 6 - 9, it got better around weeks 9 - 12 then worse again. It wasn’t until around 14 weeks that I felt better. Are you eating enough? Could be making you feel worse in the morning. I got really hungry as I got into the second trimester.

Bali200 · 01/01/2024 12:01

Thank you everyone, it looks like I was mis-sold the ‘you’ll feel better when the placenta takes over’ dream. I’ll lower my expectations of feeling better soon, I was just more surprised that its getting worse rather than remaining the same x

@Babybaby09 I’m definitely eating enough during the days but I do struggle to eat a lot of my dinner due to feeling so sick but I’m grateful it’s not all day long sickness x

Everyone is different . I was very sick 24/7 until after 18 weeks.

FantasticMissFox · 01/01/2024 12:24

I was exactly the same. Felt worse at the point where all the books said I'd feel better. 17 weeks now and had 3 days nausea free in the last 3 weeks. So feel it is easing but taking its time. Hang on in there.

Silverfoxlady · 01/01/2024 13:31

Yes, I am still feeling awful at 17w. Nausea and awful metallic taste after lunch that gets worse and usually throw up dinner. I have resorted to eating plain roast potatoes for dinner, it seems to help with the nausea a little and also drinking after an hour of food.

I had some anti-sickness medication prescribed (cyclizine), and I stopped taking this after I was constantly sleeping.

It is just so upsetting, and it colours everything I do during the day. But I really hope it will go away in the next few weeks, so keeping my fingers crossed.

PollyRosex · 01/01/2024 13:52

I'm in the same boat as you, 13 weeks 5 days. I thought my sickness was calming down until I finished my cup of coffee this morning then started spewing up! This is my 2nd pregnancy and it's definitely the worse one 🤮 I can't eat full meals I've done nothing but eat crap over the Xmas period but I've started the healthy options today. I feel like my blood sugars been really low I'm terrible for hydrating myself so I've constantly been drinking water today even if its only sips! I often find later on in the day I'm really lethargic, I feel like I could faint 😔 I hope like you it calms down soon 🙈 we have got this! X

Week 38 and still sick most days! Sorry! For me it’s just been grim throughout but I think I’m the exception rather than the rule

Wheeeeee · 01/01/2024 17:34

15+3 and still throwing up and exhausted - you have my sympathy!

bigheartlittleheart · 25/01/2024 16:58

Hi @Bali200, I am 13 weeks on Sunday. Struggled since week 6 with severe nausea and vomiting. Still very bad, so weak and can barely do anything. I’ve been off work for 4 weeks. Have you started to feel any better? I hope it passes :(

Bali200 · 25/01/2024 19:42

Hi @bigheartlittleheart sorry to hear you are so unwell. Have you tried anti-sickness meds? Yes my sickness ramped up weeks 12-15 but has definitely eased off now I’m 16+3, my food aversions are going too. Still feeling exhausted and falling asleep at 8pm but I definitely feel better than I did a couple of weeks. I hope it passes soon for you

@Bali200 ah so good to hear it is slowly getting better for you. I am really suffering, and I have a toddler so it's been tough although my husband has been solo dad as much as he can. My GP put me on cyclazine and it was awful, didn't work for me at all and they never offered an alternative. She said other meds carry higher risks. I'm just trying to get through each day but I feel so depressed. I can't wait to feel normal again. I haven't had water in 4-5 weeks now. I can stomach some juices, maybe bit of ribena or something similar. It's really tough.

Bali200 · 29/01/2024 13:57

@bigheartlittleheart that sounds really tough, I’m sorry and hope you feel better soon. I wasn’t as bad as you but I found ice lollies helped take the edge off my nausea and help with hydration too, not sure if you’ve tried already but worth a go if not.

@Bali200
Yes, this happened to me. I was fine until about week 11. Week 11 to 13 had me begging for mercy. Last week I took 3 days off work, I just couldn't do anything. The nausea peaked and I was sleeping several hours a day just to avoid it. I couldn't eat food and was losing energy.
I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and it's gotten better. I did get a pill for the nausea which I take at night and it keeps the nausea at bay all of next day. I'm able to eat again.

I hope you feel better, perhaps you can talk to your doctor about this, I also found ice chips helped since I couldn't bear the taste of water.
