I’m seeing the doc in a week but for my own curiosity I wondered if anyone here could help me understand my results from BadgerNotes?

If you've got pre eclampsia they'd take one look at you and know. I had it so severely my obstetrician took one look at me at a 33 week scan said my head was 3 times the size and baby needed to come out now.

That’s not the case. I had pre eclampsia with no swelling at all.

It might be the start of pre eclampsia but not yet bad enough / over the threshold to meet that definition. Same happened to me with my first pregnancy, didn't get diagnosed or change how I was treated until I was 39 weeks when BP finally went high enough to warrant treatment.

Try not to worry - one thing I wish I'd done at the time is monitor my BP at home rather than wait til each midwife appt. Then you can keep an extra eye on it and escalate if needed x

Ferritin on the low side, are you taking iron supplements?

I had pre eclampsia and my only symptoms were high bp and protein in urine.

No swelling and I felt great.

Symptoms vary person to person.

@LangMayYerLumReek2024

Of course, I have a condition called Hughes syndrome and was extremely lucky to be under the care of one of the greatest obstetric experts in the field, Professor Cathy Neilson-Piercy at St Thomas's as a high risk case after losing several babies prior to my successful pregnancy. That's why I tried to offer my advice.

@threecupsofteaminimum

I wasn't criticising you

Not true at all. My midwife totally missed my pre-eclampsia and dismissed my concerns. Came to see me grovelling when I was still in maternity HDU 3 days after giving birth by EMCS.

@LangMayYerLumReek2024

Ok, sorry.

threecupsofteaminimum · 31/12/2023 00:28

@zebrapig

Not true for you I'm sorry. I was very very lucky to have one of the best in the country. I'm sorry my experience was different to yours.

Thanks all, I got a call from the midwife yesterday and my blood test results had high creatinine levels (60+) so I had to go to hospital, blood pressure was high and doc confirmed preeclampsia caught in the early stages, now on my second night in hospital and c-section once baby turns 37weeks (this weekend) looking most likely

Have to say I’m not surprised. Sometimes it is about looking at someone holistically and not just what the guidelines (now) say. With a plus of protein, BP raised from booking and some symptoms I wouldn’t have wanted you going home until I’d got a blood creatinine result. Glad you’re in the right place now. Good luck.

Polyethyl · 01/01/2024 19:15

I had no symptoms whatsoever, except seeing glitter. My vision was like being inside a snow globe.
I had no headaches. No raised blood pressure (before going into labour) I had none of the normal symptoms, so the midwives didn't ask about visual disturbances and I didn't mention them. (I regret that.)
Chaos ensued when I went into labour (all ended well).
Everyone is different.

ellybelly123 · 01/01/2024 19:22

so glad you've been assessed and have a plan of action - I think in hindsight I was left far too long and wish I'd have pushed for earlier tests / resolution. Good luck, hope all goes well x

DyslexicPoster · 03/01/2024 01:57

Good luck, you will be fine. I was in your shoes once. PE found at 35 weeks. Induced at 37 weeks. He was a tiny skinny little baby and he is now still built like a bean pole.
