Anxious after BFP and previous ectopic

I’ve just got my bfp, after the first month of trying which is a shock to both me and my partner. But we are both over the moon.

ive had a previous ectopic about 5 years ago which was very distressing and made us both think we didn’t want to try for another. It’s taken all the 5 years to be in a position to be in the right head space mentally to think about adding to our family.

According to my last period I am now 4+1, I took a clear blue digital 2 days ago which came up with 2-3 weeks which would correlate to how far along I am. With my previous ectopic all of my test were very light and when I took a digital at approx 5 weeks it came up with 1-2 weeks.

these are my tests from the last few days. Cheapy was at approx 13 dpo am, digital was 13dpo pm and clear blue rapid was from today 15dpo. It’s hard to believe or to get excited as we were so excited last time and it ended in heartbreak.

anyone who had a previous ectopic and go on to have a healthy pregnancy?

Many congratulations!

Your test lines are very strong so I wouldn't anticipate any problems with this pregnancy. Not at the moment, anyway.

Most women who have had an ectopic pregnancy go on to have a successful pregnancy.

I really wish you well.

Thank you so much @TheShellBeach

I’m trying not to let the anxiety take over, and just taking each day as it comes.

Thank you for your response

I had an ectopic with faint and fading lines. That's how I knew something was wrong. And I just had a feeling. With my next pregnancy I had stronger lines (like yours!) and all was well. You're entitled to an early scan from the EPAU if you're in the UK so I'd ring them directly at your local hospital and get an appointment asap to put your mind at ease. Congrats!

Thank you @OnSilverStars i didn’t know about the epu so I’ll contact them after new years.

I felt the same during my ectopic, I just knew something was wrong. But I’m cautiously optimistic this time as the test is as bright as when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Once you've had an ectopic you should have an early scan with each subsequent pregnancy. My first pregnancy was ectopic and I was told to alert my GP as soon as I had a positive test to be referred for a scan.

I had a scan at 5+3 with this pregnancy (currently 17+6) which confirmed the location.

I was 5 days late before I got a faint positive with my ectopic. My two subsequent uterine pregnancies I got a BFP as soon as I missed my period/the day my period was due and they were both strong, clear lines.

Lots of women have healthy pregnancies after an ectopic. My cousin did, I did, one of the A&E nurses who looked after me in hospital with my ectopic last year did and my EPU doctor for this pregnancy was one of two children born to his mother after her ectopic.

Hey!
I'm 15dpo today. My last pregnancy (Nov 2022) was ectopic, treated by surgery.
Your lines are looking great! I also only got faint lines with my ectopic. I reckon strong lines are a good sign 🙂
Will you get a scan?
I'm going to call my epau on Tuesday (when I've officially missed my whole period) and see if I can make an appointment.
Good luck!!

Congratulations! Your lines look great!

I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2020 and went on to have my DD in 2021. Currently 4+2 with baby #2 all being well ☺️

As previous posters have said you should be able to get in touch with your EPU directly and bypass your GP to get you in for an early scan.

Best of luck 💕
