Basingstoke hospital scans

Hi everyone I’m 8+3 weeks due in August, I’ve had my booking appointment and was upset to find out Basingstoke are no longer facilitating scans and this will be held in Andover.

this means I’ve gone from a 23 min one way journey to an hour one way (my scans will take up 3 hours of my day each time now) we already do not have any choice for booking the dates and time for these scans. I know this might not be a huge problem for most but now I’ll be in a position where im now having to book half days out of work and my partner can’t guarantee he can come to all scans now due to how much time will be taken out of work. Basically means I might have to drive alone to some of my scans, if these get more frequent towards the end, I don’t understand how this is sustainable.

most of my friends locally giving birth at Basingstoke are having their appointments in Basingstoke so I’m quite upset to see that this must be new.

it might just be hormones but it’s just frustrating and feels like this is gonna be the start of a rocky journey. Already my midwife couldn’t draw any blood from my booking appointment tests and I have to make additional appointments just for this. So far nothing feels like it’s going as expected.

I haven’t told work yet due to being early, I commute to central london two-three times a week, I work in sales so it’s quite a demanding job.

Has anyone got any advice here? I’m just feeling sad about the lack of options and choices here.

Bit late but just wanted to add I'm in the exact same boat!

I live 10 mins away from the hospital but have had to make 45 min each way journeys to Andover for both my 12 and 20 week scans.

Frustrating but seems to be the way for the North Hants trust of Basingstoke, Winchester and Adnover who all use Andover for scans.

Hi

I live about 15 minutes from Basingstoke hospital and I had my first scan at Andover today. My dad drove me as we weren't sure how easy it would be to park (we struggled to find a space but fortunately we were there early). Dad asked the sonographer why there weren't scans at Basingstoke and she said that during COVID they moved the scans to Andover to try to reduce the risk of pregnant patients getting it. Apparently there aren't many sonographers at Basingstoke that are able to do the screening scans but that growth scans are done at Basingstoke. She did tell us that they do have a few slots for screening scans that they are able to book for Basingstoke hospital so it might be worth asking if it would be possible to book to have your second scan at Basingstoke.
