Bleeding in Early Pregnancy

Hi I’m looking for a bit of advice please. I’m currently approximately 5 weeks pregnant and worried sick. Yesterday I had a bit of pink bleeding (after having a poo). The bleeding was light pink in colour and stopped as soon as it started.

The same thing has happened this morning but the bleeding was more red in colour. This also happened after pooping and stopped straight away. The bleeding is definitely coming from my vagina, not my bottom.

I’d be really appreciate any advice. This is not my first pregnancy. I did have some bleeding early on in my first pregnancy but this happened once and straight after sex.

Thank you

I’d make an appointment with the GP and see if you can get an early scan.

If the bleeding becomes very heavy then you should go to A and E. There’s nothing they can really do, but just to get checked out that you’re not losing too much blood.

Good luck. I hope it turns out ok for you.

This happened to me in very early pregnancy, only after pooing, and it stopped happening by about 7 weeks.

I did pay for an early scan as EPU wouldn’t see me for a week due to lack of appointments and I couldn’t wait! Everything was fine in my case but you probably want to get a check to put your mind at rest.

Find out the process for your EPU as some don’t need a gp referral and you call directly, also if you’re only 5 weeks it’s too early for a scan and they and a private clinic might ask you to wait another week.

I had this with both of my pregnancies and everything was fine. It wasn't only when I had bowel movements either, but mainly noticed after going to the loo.

1/3 women bleed in pregnancy. It could be implantation bleeding, a hematoma or just spotting because everything's so vascular atm - so many hormones!

I've been here twice, the truth is stories like mine will make you feel better but you won't feel better until you know, so as PP said maybe get checked out for your own peace of mind.

Praying your baby is safe and healthy OP. Trusting they are xx
