Harvesting colostrum?

Which is the easiest way to do this? Does anything make it come out faster etc / can I use a pump

I sound so odd but I hate leaking milk!! I plan to BF this time too (2nd time mum) so I need to get over it🤦🏻‍♀️ but I’ve been leaking milk and the feeling really goes through me, I want to harvest colostrum but know I’ll obviously leak bits and it’ll go on me etc so just need to get over it

but is there any tips to make it an easy process haha?

I am 37 weeks btw so not starting too early

I purchased the syringes from Amazon but found it impossible to harvest the colostrum straight into them. Therefore I used a table spoon just under the nipple and squeezed the breast (you can watch videos on how to do it). Then once the spoon was full I used the syringe to suck it up. I then labelled them with my name and the date, and froze to take to hospital with me.

I think I read somewhere about it possibly inducing labour so was reluctant to use a pump, I could be totally misinformed there though. It was such a slow process and not much produced each time that I’m not sure a pump would have worked for me anyway.

I did this every day over several weeks and had a decent amount by due date!

Hope this helps 😊
