13 weeks pregnant and vaping!

So I found out yesterday I am pregnant… and I’ve been vaping on and off (not consistently) but this whole week I was vaping due to a huge overload at work and being super stressed. I’m on the contraceptive pill BUT after throwing up yesterday from the smell of fish (first time throwing up!) I tested and I’m pregnant. I couldn’t pin point when I would have conceived so I went to the walk in drs and paid a hefty amount for a scan… to see I’m about 13 weeks. I feel HORRIBLE, have I done damage from vaping?! Drs didn’t answer when I asked if vaping could do anything so now I’m in a state of panic. Luckily I don’t drink so apart from vaping I’ve been fine… hoping to have some support from anyone who has been in any similar situations… I have stopped vaping also!

No one knows the long term effects of vaping yet and I don't think there have been many studies during pregnancy. You've stopped now and that's all you can do. Chances are you'll be fine especially as it's still early in the pregnancy. Congratulations by the way!

@Sianduck you're not the first to be in this situation, many people don't know they're pregnant and are living their life as normal. Weighing it up vaping is a lot safer than smoking in pregnancy and I'd imagine some women use vaping to quit smoking when pregnant. Like the other poster said, you can't do anything now but make decisions moving forward. I wish you a safe and healthy pregnancy.

congratulations and I really wouldn’t worry.i became pregnant just as vapes first started to be around. I actually stopped smoking cigs because of this and switched to a vape!
back then this was kind of considered a good option. Had plenty of friends who continued to smoke cigs throughout pregnancy so I suppose I felt it was the lesser of two evils.

my child was/is absolutely fine. Very true we have no idea of long term effects of vaping but we DO know cigs are harmful.

Hundreds of women every year find themselves unexpectedly pregnant after a weekend of heavy drinking, or while still smoking. Even drug use. The vast majority of these babies are born just as healthy as any other. The important thing is to stop now, take your pregnancy vitamins and try not to stress.

Congratulations! The NHS actively encourage those that smoke to switch to vaping when pregnant. I don't do either but when I was in hospital attending appointments there were often posters to this effect!

I really wouldn't worry, what you do now is what's important and you've stopped, amazing 😊
