Shoulder pain 8 weeks pregnant

So I'm a bit of a worrier, and am quite hyper aware of my body and any aches and pains (I have health anxiety).

I know shoulder pain can be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy, but I'm trying to reason with myself because surely I'd have other symptoms if I was?

My mom had an ectopic pregnancy and she said she was in so much pain with hers which in an awful way is comforting to me knowing I'm not pain like that.

Any advice would be appreciated:)

Ring the epau asap even just for peace of mind.

I think it’s shoulder tip pain that is the symptom but I’d get it checked if I was you

I've had previous ectopic, it was caught early and didn't really get the shoulder pain. I did however get shoulder pain with my first child and I was terrified it was another ectopic, but was just trapped wind. If pain gets worse/progresses or doesn't go away then defo get checked out.

This.
It's shoulder tip.

@Bethandfreddie how are you?

Treesinmygarden · 24/12/2023 14:13

Contact your EPU and get checked out immediately.

It's never worth taking a chance.

DemelzaRobins · 24/12/2023 15:19

Please go to A&E or see your local EPU to be checked over. Better safe than sorry.

My ectopic shoulder pain was mild throughout. I had started bleeding at 7 weeks, been scanned at 7+2 and the ectopic diagnosed. Shoulder pain began at 7+3. It started in my collarbone and spread.

At no point did I have severe shoulder or abdominal pain with my ectopic. I went to A&E at 7+3 (it was late at night) and was scanned at 7+4 and told my tube had ruptured. I was in surgery within the hour.

It's hopefully nothing sinister in your case but you need to be checked out and scanned.

@Bethandfreddie how are you?

Honestly, I feel fine other than nausea. Haven't had the pain since that day, and it wore off. I think it's because most nights I end up sleeping in my toddler's bed because I'm too tired to keep getting up, and his bed is uncomfortable and I often end up with neck ache and stuff from sleeping there so I'm putting it down to that.

The pain was more in between my neck and shoulder, and I've got no other symptoms at all. If it happens again, I will get it checked. Thank you for asking!
